Tall grass clumps

A low-poly cluster of three savanna grass tussocks. Arching blades fan out from dark root crowns, green at the foot and golden at the tips, and thin seed stalks with feathery seed heads rise above the leaves.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Tall grass clumps for the Savanna kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Savanna kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Golden grass and big animals. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: straw gold #d0a225, acacia green #3a883a, earth red #c32222, dusk purple #572e6b, straw gold dark #8f7019, acacia green dark #235223, straw gold light #debd63, acacia green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `dryOrWetSeason` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Dry or wet season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 1.7 × 1.4 m footprint. The leaves reach about 1.3 m and the tallest seed heads about 1.94 m, which is typical of savanna thatching or red-oat grass. Origin is at the bottom centre of the cluster, it rests on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 2,149 triangles in 9 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so 'straw gold light' and 'straw gold dark' each appear twice; recolour by name. dryOrWetSeason (the kit's 'Dry or wet season') greens each blade from the foot up: the base is green with chance 0.2 + 0.8·s, the middle with chance s and the tip with chance s². So 0 is mostly gold, the default 0.5 has green bases under gold tips, and 1 is all green. Above 0.85 the seed stalks also turn acacia green dark, and the seed heads stay straw gold light in every season. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The viewer uses exposure 0.7 so the gold does not wash out; this does not affect the GLB. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 expected warnings: duplicate materials (from the per-mesh export), non-indexed geometry (kept on purpose for hard flat facets), overlapping sibling boxes (the blade colour meshes interleave by design), and 'seed heads' flagged as detached, although each plume starts 2 cm inside its stalk tip. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 5 ids.

About the Tall grass clumps 3D model

Tall grass clumps is a free low-poly 3D model from the Savanna set. It measures 1.7 m × 1.9 m × 1.4 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,149 triangles across 9 meshes, with 5 named parts. Download the 160 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Tall grass clumps 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 160 KB: 2,149 triangles, 6,447 vertices and 9 materials, modelled in metres at 1.7 m × 1.9 m × 1.4 m.
Can I animate Tall grass clumps?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 5 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Tall grass clumps 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
