Water wheel

A low-poly hillside bamboo water wheel turning in a feeder channel at the foot of a rice terrace. Its lifting tubes empty into a bamboo trough that spills into the flooded paddy one step up. It comes with a seamless 8 s loop of the wheel making one full turn.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Water wheel for the Rice Terraces kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Rice Terraces kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stepped green hills and small farms. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: rice green #3a883a, water mirror #3997c6, earth brown #6b4a2e, straw #d7c375, rice green dark #235223, water mirror dark #286a8a, rice green light #5db15d, water mirror light #79b5d2, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `growthStageWater` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Growth stage (water" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a 4 m diameter wheel, 0.74 m wide across the paddles, on an axle 2.25 m above y = 0. The model is about 5.2 m long (x, along the channel) × 5.4 m deep (z) × 4.25 m tall, resting on y = 0 with its origin at the bottom centre. The front (+z) is a 0.66 m grass bund. The back is a 1.6 m terrace wall carrying a flooded rice paddy, and the wheel's lifting tubes and trough face that side. growthStageWater (the kit's 'Growth stage (water' knob) changes only the upper paddy. At 0 it is flooded (14 cm water) with short light-green seedlings; at 1 it is a drained 3 cm mirror with 0.8 m straw-coloured ripe rice. Default 0.5 is green rice. wheelDiameter rescales the wheel from 3.2 to 4.4 m and raises the axle and trestles to suit. paddleCount sets paddles and tubes together (spokes are half that per side). spinTurns sets 1 or 2 turns per loop. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults, so straw is used only on the bamboo at the default stage. Animation: one seamless 8 s clip ('scene-motion'). The 'wheel' node (axle, hub, spokes, rims, paddles, tubes) turns one full revolution about the axle centre, with the bottom paddles moving downstream (+x). The channel, bund, terrace, trestles, bearings and trough never move. The exported static node pose is the t = 2 s pose, because three-check exports after its determinism seek. The water spill is a static ribbon. The GLB has 3,108 triangles in 23 meshes; three-check's 3.4k figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. All 12 kit palette colours are used, and every material is named exactly after its colour. glb-lint reports 0 errors and only heuristic warnings: one material per mesh exceeding the direction's default count, non-indexed flat-shaded primitives, overlapping grass tuft meshes, and scale vs a 1 m reference. plan-check rejects the hyphenated slug part ids the library mandates; a copy with the ids de-hyphenated passes, and three-check accepts the hyphenated ids.

About the Water wheel 3D model

Water wheel is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Rice Terraces set. It measures 5.2 m × 4.3 m × 5.4 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,108 triangles across 23 meshes, with 7 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 251 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Water wheel 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 251 KB: 3,108 triangles, 9,324 vertices and 23 materials, modelled in metres at 5.2 m × 4.3 m × 5.4 m.
Is Water wheel animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Water wheel 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
