Rain capes

Low-poly farmers' rain gear from the rice terraces: a layered straw rain cape and a shorter palm-fibre cape, each hung on a dark-wood peg stand with a conical field hat on top, with rain still dripping from the fringes.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Rain capes for the Rice Terraces kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Rice Terraces kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stepped green hills and small farms. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: rice green #3a883a, water mirror #3997c6, earth brown #6b4a2e, straw #d7c375, rice green dark #235223, water mirror dark #286a8a, rice green light #5db15d, water mirror light #79b5d2, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `growthStageWater` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Growth stage (water" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.65 m wide (X) × 0.59 m deep (Z) × 1.74 m tall at the hat tips. Each stand is 1.56 m to the peg top. The straw cape hangs 0.95 m from the neck at 1.40 m, and the palm-fibre cape is 0.76 m long. The hats are 0.54 m across. The origin is at the bottom centre, both stands rest on y = 0, and the front faces +Z. The capes are open at the front, as worn. The GLB has 2,172 triangles in 13 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip; three-check's 2,126-triangle figure is a renderer count that includes the viewer's ground. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The default build uses 4 of the 12 colours. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can repeat; recolour by name. growthStageWater (the kit's 'Growth stage (water)') sets the season. At 0 (wet planting season) most fringe tips carry a rain bead. The beads thin out as the value rises, and from 0.8 the drips part is not built at all. capeCount sets 1–3 stands (straw, palm, straw). capeLength sets the straw cape's length (the palm cape is 80% of it). tierCount sets the straw cape's tiers (the palm cape has one fewer, minimum 2). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected: 13 per-mesh materials over the direction's soft cap of 10 (only 4 distinct colours), same-named materials from the per-mesh export, deliberately non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested bounds (cape tiers overlap like real thatch), and a 'detached' flag on the rain beads, which hang from the fringe tips. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 8 ids.

About the Rain capes 3D model

Rain capes is a free low-poly 3D model from the Rice Terraces set. It measures 1.6 m × 1.7 m × 59 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,172 triangles across 13 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 165 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Rain capes 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 165 KB: 2,172 triangles, 6,516 vertices and 13 materials, modelled in metres at 1.6 m × 1.7 m × 59 cm.
Can I animate Rain capes?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Rain capes 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
