Seedling trays

A low-poly rice-seedling nursery bench: four shallow straw-rimmed trays packed with young rice shoots stand in a water-filled wooden soak trough on a dark-wood bench, with spare empty trays stacked on the slatted lower shelf.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Seedling trays for the Rice Terraces kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Rice Terraces kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stepped green hills and small farms. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: rice green #3a883a, water mirror #3997c6, earth brown #6b4a2e, straw #d7c375, rice green dark #235223, water mirror dark #286a8a, rice green light #5db15d, water mirror light #79b5d2, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `growthStageWater` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Growth stage (water" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 1.49 m long × 0.75 m deep × 0.67 m tall at the defaults (the trough top sits at 0.52 m, and the seedlings rise about 0.13 m above the soil). The origin is at the bottom centre, the bench feet rest on y = 0 and the long front faces +Z. The GLB has 2,760 triangles in 10 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 3,050-triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 6 of the 12 are used at the defaults, and rice green dark appears only at growthStageWater > 0.75. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. growthStageWater (the kit's 'Growth stage (water' knob) trades water for growth: at 0 the trough is brimming just under the soil and the shoots are short and pale; at 1 the water has drawn down and the seedlings stand about 0.2 m tall and dark green. trayCount changes the trough length (2–6 trays; a middle leg pair appears from 5), benchHeight raises the bench, and spareTrays stacks 0–4 empty trays on the shelf. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 warnings, all expected: duplicate same-named materials from the per-mesh export; deliberately non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets; overlapping sibling bounds (shelf slats inside the bench frame, seedling blades around their cores); and a 'detached' heuristic on parts that rest on another part's mesh (trough on the bench rails, trays on the trough floor) rather than on y = 0. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 8 ids.

About the Seedling trays 3D model

Seedling trays is a free low-poly 3D model from the Rice Terraces set. It measures 1.5 m × 67 cm × 75 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,760 triangles across 10 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 270 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Seedling trays 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 270 KB: 2,760 triangles, 8,280 vertices and 10 materials, modelled in metres at 1.5 m × 67 cm × 75 cm.
Can I animate Seedling trays?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Seedling trays 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
