Level crossing
A low-poly railway level crossing: a two-lane road crosses a single track on a timber plank deck. Two half barriers with red-and-white booms and target discs stand on green pedestals beside wig-wag warning lights. It plays a seamless 8-second loop in which both booms rise, hold and lower.

Left rail: colours and the 3 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Level crossing for the Railway Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Railway Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Platforms, signals and a grand hall. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick #9e3d2e, iron green #3a883a, cream #f1e7d0, signal red #e90c0c, brick dark #63261d, iron green dark #235223, brick light #c66253, iron green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `era` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Era" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 11.2 m along the track (X) by 7.6 m along the road (Z), 2.81 m tall to the lamp-mast finials with the booms closed. The raised booms reach about 4.6 m. Two 3 m lanes, standard 1.435 m gauge, and the timber deck sits flush with the rail heads. The origin is at the bottom centre and everything rests on y = 0. The road runs along Z and the track along X. Each half barrier closes the left-hand lane of its approach, as on UK roads. Each 'boom' node pivots exactly on its hub axis, 1.05 m up, on the pedestal's front face. The GLB holds the closed rest pose and one baked 8 s clip, 'scene-motion'. In it both booms rise to 85°, hold and lower again, with the far boom trailing by 0.2 s. The road, track, pedestals and signs never move. The GLB has 1,944 triangles. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and 10 of the 12 are used (brick light and iron green light are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name repeats across materials: recolour by name. Params are baked at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt. era (kit 'Era'): below 0.33 you get timber-post crossbuck signs and wide boom bands; from 0.33 up the signs are twin-lamp wig-wag boards on green masts. Below 0.5 each boom carries an oil lamp near its tip. Below 0.67 there are red target discs and brick plinths; above 0.67 the booms have no discs, tighter bands and concrete plinths. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings, all expected for this build: material count, duplicate PBR values, flat-shaded non-indexed geometry, deliberate nesting (the rails and deck inside the road and track slabs) and a scale warning (the model is 2.8 m tall, not 1 m). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 11 survive the GLB reload. A sweep at both era extremes and both boomLength extremes also passes three-check.
About the Level crossing 3D model
Level crossing is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Railway Station set. It measures 11 m × 2.8 m × 7.6 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,944 triangles across 38 meshes, with 11 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 239 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Level crossing 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 239 KB: 1,944 triangles, 5,832 vertices and 38 materials, modelled in metres at 11 m × 2.8 m × 7.6 m.
- Is Level crossing animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Level crossing 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
