Carriages

A low-poly Victorian bogie compartment coach in brick and cream, with a door and droplight in every compartment, a clerestory roof with oil lamp tops, red buffer beams and two four-wheel bogies. It has a seamless 4 s loop: the wheels roll on their axles and the bogies swivel gently on their centre pins.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Carriages for the Railway Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Railway Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Platforms, signals and a grand hall. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: brick #9e3d2e, iron green #3a883a, cream #f1e7d0, signal red #e90c0c, brick dark #63261d, iron green dark #235223, brick light #c66253, iron green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `era` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Era" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 15.7 m long over the buffers (14.6 m body), 2.6 m body width (3.1 m over the footboards) and 4.24 m tall to the lamp-top chimneys (3.97 m to the clerestory roof). The wheels are 0.92 m across at standard gauge on bogies with a 2.44 m wheelbase, 10 m between bogie centres. The origin is at the bottom centre, every tyre rests on y = 0 and the leading end faces +Z; the tail lamp is on the -Z end. No track is included. The GLB has 5,928 triangles in 38 meshes. Every material is named exactly after its Railway Station palette colour (iron green, warm white and its other colours are not used on this part). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (4 s, seamless) moves only the bogies and wheelsets: each wheelset turns 2 whole turns about its axle, nested inside its bogie, and the two bogies swivel up to 2° about their centre pins in opposition, as on a reverse curve. The body, underframe and buffers never move. The tyres have 12 facets, so while they roll the contact point rises and falls by about 16 mm. The export snapshots a mid-loop frame (t = 2 s), so the static node pose is a frame from the clip; seek the clip to 0 for the rest pose. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer: era (the kit's 'Era') gives an early clerestory roof with oil lamp tops below 0.6 and a later high elliptical roof with roof vents and gangway bellows at both ends from 0.6 up; compartments sets the length (5 to 8 compartments, 2 m each); swivel sets the bogie swing in the loop and wheelTurns the rolling speed. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings (per-mesh duplicate materials, deliberate non-indexed flat shading, deliberately nested trim panels, window and roof-fitting meshes that sit on the body but live in their own parts, and height against the direction's 1 m reference); the verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes on a de-hyphenated copy; it only rejects the hyphens in the slug-based part ids this library requires, and three-check accepts those ids, with all 15 surviving the GLB reload.

About the Carriages 3D model

Carriages is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Railway Station set. It measures 3.1 m × 4.2 m × 16 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,928 triangles across 38 meshes, with 15 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 479 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Carriages 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 479 KB: 5,928 triangles, 17,784 vertices and 38 materials, modelled in metres at 3.1 m × 4.2 m × 16 m.
Is Carriages animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Carriages 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
