Temple gate

A low-poly Vietnamese three-portal temple gate that spans a lane: faded yellow piers frame a tall open passage for motorbikes and two side doorways with dark wood doors. Two tiers of upswept teal tile roofs carry curled red ridge ends and a pair of red dragons facing a white moon, over a red name plaque and couplet boards.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Temple gate for the Motorbike Alley kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Motorbike Alley kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A narrow tropical lane of shop houses. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: faded yellow #dbc970, teal shutters #2d8686, red #c32222, wet concrete #8a8a8a, faded yellow dark #ccb233, teal shutters dark #1a4d4d, faded yellow light #e8dfb0, teal shutters light #46b9b9, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `signLanguageAndText` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Sign language and text" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at defaults: 9 m long (9 grid cells) × 2.8 m deep (central roof eaves) × 8.66 m tall to the top of the moon disc. The central passage is 3.4 m wide with 3.8 m clear height, so motorbikes ride straight through. The side doorways are 0.9 m wide and 2.5 m high. Modular: the gate runs along +X for gateLength whole metres. The origin is at the snapping end (x = 0), centred in depth, with the plinths resting on y = 0. Everything stays inside x 0 to gateLength (the outermost eave corners stop about 0.07 m short of each end), so the next piece snaps at x = gateLength. This differs from the library's bottom-centre origin because the brief asks for the origin at the snapping end. The front faces +Z, and the front and back are both fully dressed: plaque, couplets, vents and door panels are on both faces. The GLB has 2,448 triangles in 29 meshes (one per part and colour) and no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed), so the facets survive in any engine. 9 of the 12 kit colours are used (not teal shutters, teal shutters light or mid grey), and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. Signs carry abstract colour blocks, never real text. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. signLanguageAndText (the kit's 'Sign language and text') makes the name plaque taller (0.50–0.85 m) and wider (1.5–2.5 m), sets its number of lettering blocks (2–6), and lengthens the couplet boards (1.2–2.1 m) with 2–5 blocks each. gateLength widens the side doorways and the central passage. clearHeight raises the central passage and everything above it. roofTiers 1 drops the raised upper tier, so the dragons and moon sit on the lower roof's ridge. The param extremes were checked by reading the geometry limits, not by a capture. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings. Two are about the material count and duplicate materials, both caused by per-mesh materials. One flags unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose). One flags sibling overlaps, where capitals, lintels, signs and the upper tier are embedded on purpose. The last compares the 8.7 m height with the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 9 survive the GLB reload.

About the Temple gate 3D model

Temple gate is a free low-poly 3D model from the Motorbike Alley set. It measures 8.9 m × 8.7 m × 3.1 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,448 triangles across 29 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 196 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Temple gate 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 196 KB: 2,448 triangles, 7,344 vertices and 29 materials, modelled in metres at 8.9 m × 8.7 m × 3.1 m.
Can I animate Temple gate?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Temple gate 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
