Balconies

A low-poly stack of two shop-house balconies on a slice of faded yellow facade wall. Each has a concrete slab on corbels, a bar railing with a wooden handrail, and teal shutter doors under a tin awning. Potted plants, laundry, an AC unit and a red sign board fill the balconies.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Balconies for the Motorbike Alley kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Motorbike Alley kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A narrow tropical lane of shop houses. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: faded yellow #dbc970, teal shutters #2d8686, red #c32222, wet concrete #8a8a8a, faded yellow dark #ccb233, teal shutters dark #1a4d4d, faded yellow light #e8dfb0, teal shutters light #46b9b9, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `signLanguageAndText` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Sign language and text" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 3.7 m wide (x), 1.3 m deep (z) and 6.56 m tall at the default params. That is two 3.2 m storeys plus a 0.16 m coping. The wall slice is 3.6 m wide and 0.22 m thick. Its back face sits 0.6 m behind the origin (z = -0.6), so to mount it, push it flush against a kit facade. Each balcony projects 1.0 m and is 3.2 m wide. The balconies face +Z, the origin is at the bottom centre of the bounding box, and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 2,328 triangles in 28 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed), so the facets survive in any engine. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour, and all 12 kit colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The sign carries abstract colour blocks, never real text. Transom windows are opaque, and there are no interiors behind the shutters. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. signLanguageAndText (the kit's 'Sign language and text') sets the sign board size (0.7–1.8 m wide) and its number of lettering blocks (0–6, in two rows above 3). At 0 the board is blank. levels (1–3) stacks storeys and alternates railing colour and clutter. width (2.8–4.6 m) sets the wall width, and projection (0.7–1.4 m) sets the balcony depth. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (from the per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (door frames, rails and trims embedded on purpose) and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens that this library's slug-based ids need. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 8 survive the GLB reload.

About the Balconies 3D model

Balconies is a free low-poly 3D model from the Motorbike Alley set. It measures 3.7 m × 6.6 m × 1.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,328 triangles across 28 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 187 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Balconies 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 187 KB: 2,328 triangles, 6,984 vertices and 28 materials, modelled in metres at 3.7 m × 6.6 m × 1.3 m.
Can I animate Balconies?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Balconies 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
