Tunnel entrance

A low-poly mine adit cut into a faceted ochre hillside: a concrete portal with a yellow-and-black hazard lintel opens through a slate rock face into a dark bore lined with timber sets. A narrow-gauge track with a loaded ore tub runs out to a buffer stop, beside a vent fan whose duct runs into the tunnel.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Tunnel entrance for the Mine and Quarry kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mine and Quarry kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Rock, dust and heavy machines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: ochre #bd8728, slate #525e6f, machine yellow #eecd2b, rust #9b4427, ochre dark #7e5a1b, slate dark #323943, ochre light #d6a95c, slate light #7b8593, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `oreColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ore colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 16.0 m wide (x) by 17.9 m deep (z) including the 5.5 m of track outside the portal, and 7.06 m tall at the hill's crest. The portal opening is 3.2 m wide and 3.36 m high at the crown, and the bore runs 7 m into the hill on a 600 mm narrow-gauge track. The ore tub is about 1.4 m long, which is typical mine-tub scale. The portal faces +Z, and the origin is at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0. The exported model has 1,700 triangles in 31 meshes (merged per part and colour), with no animation clip and flat normals baked in (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour. 11 of the 12 kit colours are used; ochre light is used only when oreColour selects it. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. oreColour works in steps and colours the ore heaped in the tub and the ore lumps by the track: below 0.2 slate light, 0.2–0.4 ochre light, 0.4–0.6 rust (the default and the GLB), 0.6–0.8 ochre, and 0.8 and up machine yellow. portalWidth rebuilds the portal, rock-face cut, bore and timber sets. timberSets places 2–5 sets 1.25 m apart. trackLength extends the track and moves the tub and buffer stop. Params change geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; the GLB is baked at the defaults. Both extremes (portal 4 m, 5 sets, 8 m track, ore 1; and portal 2.6 m, 2 sets, 3 m track, ore 1) were captured and passed three-check. The tunnel is a closed 7 m bore with a dark end wall, not a through-tunnel. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (the hillside colour meshes share one heightfield's bounds), and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). It also gives its standing 'no requirements contract' UNVERIFIED verdict. three-check passes 24 of 24 checks; its triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens that this library's slug-based ids need; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. The viewer renders at exposure 0.66 on a tan ground disc; neither is part of the GLB.

About the Tunnel entrance 3D model

Tunnel entrance is a free low-poly 3D model from the Mine and Quarry set. It measures 16 m × 7.1 m × 18 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,700 triangles across 31 meshes, with 11 named parts. Download the 146 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Tunnel entrance 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 146 KB: 1,700 triangles, 5,100 vertices and 31 materials, modelled in metres at 16 m × 7.1 m × 18 m.
Can I animate Tunnel entrance?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 11 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Tunnel entrance 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
