Dump truck

A low-poly rigid-frame quarry haul truck: a machine yellow tipper body with a canopy over an offset cab, six huge lugged tyres, a radiator grille and a diagonal front stair. It comes with a seamless 8 s loop: the body tips up on telescopic hoist rams, pours its ore load out over the tail, lowers and is topped up again.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Dump truck for the Mine and Quarry kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Mine and Quarry kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Rock, dust and heavy machines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: ochre #bd8728, slate #525e6f, machine yellow #eecd2b, rust #9b4427, ochre dark #7e5a1b, slate dark #323943, ochre light #d6a95c, slate light #7b8593, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `oreColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ore colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a rigid-frame quarry haul truck of about 60 t, 10.08 m long from the dump body's tail lip to the front stair handrail (9.7 m to the front bumper), 5.4 m wide across the rear duals (5.9 m across the mirrors) and 4.76 m tall to the beacon (canopy top 4.45 m). The tyres are 2.4 m across, on a 4.4 m wheelbase with dual tyres at the rear. The origin is at the bottom centre, the tyres rest on y = 0 (a lug face, not a corner, touches the ground), and the front (grille) faces +Z. The footprint centre sits 0.24 m ahead of the origin because the front stair overhangs the bumper. The GLB has 4,624 triangles in 59 meshes, merged per part and per colour. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 9 of the 12 are used (ochre, ochre dark and dark wood only appear through oreColour or not at all). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (8 s, seamless) moves only parts on their own pivots. The dump body tips about its rear hinge pin axis up to tipAngle and back down. Each hoist barrel swivels on its frame foot pin, and its stage and rod each slide out half the extension, so the rod eye stays on the body's clevis pin. The ore load slides toward the tail and shrinks away (pours) while the body is up. It is hidden inside the floor slab while the body lowers, then grows back up from the floor at rest. The load and the hoist stages use translate/scale tracks. The beacon makes 4 turns. The frame, cab, deck and wheels never move; the wheels are separate parts pivoted on their axle centres so you can roll them yourself. The GLB's static node pose is the t = 2 s frame, which is the loaded rest pose. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. oreColour (the kit's 'Ore colour') steps through the kit's ore ladder: slate light, ochre light, rust (default, iron), ochre, machine yellow. tipAngle sets how far the body tips in the loop (25–50°). loadLevel scales the heap height. Only the default params were rendered and checked; the extremes were not captured. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings (per-mesh duplicate materials counted against the direction's 10-material default, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, deliberately nested pins and brackets, parts flagged 'detached' because each sits in its own group, and height against a generic 1 m reference). The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; with the ids substituted it passes. three-check accepts the real ids, and all 25 survive the GLB reload.

About the Dump truck 3D model

Dump truck is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Mine and Quarry set. It measures 5.9 m × 4.8 m × 10 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,624 triangles across 59 meshes, with 25 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 426 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Dump truck 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 426 KB: 4,624 triangles, 13,872 vertices and 59 materials, modelled in metres at 5.9 m × 4.8 m × 10 m.
Is Dump truck animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Dump truck 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
