Site office

A low-poly two-storey mine site office: two stacked portable cabins on steel skids and timber cribbing, with a yellow-railed upper walkway reached by an external steel stair. A water tank, drill-core trays, an ore sample skip, a roof beacon and a plain site board stand around it on an ochre gravel pad.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Site office for the Mine and Quarry kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mine and Quarry kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Rock, dust and heavy machines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: ochre #bd8728, slate #525e6f, machine yellow #eecd2b, rust #9b4427, ochre dark #7e5a1b, slate dark #323943, ochre light #d6a95c, slate light #7b8593, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `oreColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ore colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: the whole asset is 19.8 m (x) × 8.9 m (z) × 7.72 m tall, including the gravel pad. Each cabin is 9.6 m × 3.2 m and 2.9 m tall. The cabins sit on 0.25 m steel skids over 0.3 m timber cribbing. The upper floor and walkway deck are at 3.8 m, the roof at 6.76 m and the beacon top at 7.72 m. The 1.25 m walkway runs the full front. An 18-riser stair (0.2 m rise, 0.26 m going) climbs from the +X end. The doors face +Z, and the origin is at the bottom centre of the pad, which rests on y = 0. The GLB has 2,858 triangles in 40 meshes (merged per part and colour), is static and carries no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed) and nodes carry no transforms. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. At the default, 11 of the 12 colours are used: ochre light only appears as an ore colour. oreColour (the kit's 'Ore colour') works in steps and colours the drill cores and the ore heaped in the sample skip: below 0.2 slate light, 0.2–0.4 ochre light, 0.4–0.6 rust (the default and the GLB), 0.6–0.8 ochre, and 0.8 and up machine yellow. storeys = 1 drops the upper cabin and lowers the walkway to a railed front porch with a 4-riser step stair. cabinLength (6–12 m) rescales the cabins, windows, battens, cribbing, walkway and pad. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults, and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: 1 cabin, 6 m, ore 1 (2,092 viewer triangles) and 2 cabins, 12 m, ore 0 (3,484 viewer triangles). The viewer figures include about 290 staging triangles. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings, all expected. They cover duplicate material names (one mesh per colour per part), non-indexed flat shading, nested overlaps (berm and pad, frames and walls), parts reported 'detached' because they rest on a mesh in another part, and the scale check for a subject taller than 1 m. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract is supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated. three-check and the GLB keep all 14 ids. The site board is plain colour bands, with no text. One fix round, visual only: the exposure was lowered to 0.62 so the ochre pad keeps its tone, and the hero and side views were framed tighter. The exposure and the viewer's ground disc are not part of the GLB.

About the Site office 3D model

Site office is a free low-poly 3D model from the Mine and Quarry set. It measures 20 m × 7.7 m × 8.8 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,858 triangles across 40 meshes, with 14 named parts. Download the 308 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Site office 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 308 KB: 2,858 triangles, 8,574 vertices and 40 materials, modelled in metres at 20 m × 7.7 m × 8.8 m.
Can I animate Site office?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 14 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Site office 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
