Ore carts
A low-poly pair of coupled narrow-gauge ore carts. Each has a slate tapered steel tub with dark straps, heaped with rust-red ore, on a dark wood chassis with yellow-plated buffer beams and four flanged rail wheels. A hand brake sits on the rear cart.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Ore carts for the Mine and Quarry kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mine and Quarry kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Rock, dust and heavy machines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: ochre #bd8728, slate #525e6f, machine yellow #eecd2b, rust #9b4427, ochre dark #7e5a1b, slate dark #323943, ochre light #d6a95c, slate light #7b8593, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `oreColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ore colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: two carts, 0.98 m wide over the buffer beams, 3.70 m long over the end coupling links and 1.11 m tall to the ore crown. Each tub is 1.2 m long, 0.96 m wide over the rim and 0.5 m deep. The wheels are 0.38 m across the flange on a 600 mm-class gauge. The carts are 1.76 m apart, centre to centre. The origin is at the bottom centre, with the wheel flanges touching y = 0 (the treads sit 2 cm higher, as on a rail head). The train runs along Z, and the lead cart faces +Z. The hand brake is on the rear (−Z) cart. The GLB has 2,984 triangles in 16 meshes (merged per part and colour). It is static and carries no animation clip. Geometry is non-indexed with face normals, so it stays flat-shaded in any engine, and the nodes carry no transforms. Every material is named exactly after a Mine and Quarry palette colour. 8 of the 12 colours are used at the default; warm white is not used on this part. oreColour (the kit's 'Ore colour') works in steps and colours the ore heap and chunks. Below 0.2 it gives slate light and slate, 0.2–0.4 ochre light and ochre, 0.4–0.6 rust and ochre dark (the default and the GLB), 0.6–0.8 ochre and ochre dark, and 0.8 and up machine yellow and ochre. These are the same ore steps as the other kit parts. cartCount (1–3) sets the train length. tubLength (1.0–1.4 m) stretches the tubs and chassis. loadHeight sets the heap height and chunk count; at 0 a low heap and a dark load floor remain. The ore heap is seeded, so it is deterministic. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: 3 carts, 1.4 m, full load, ore 1 (4,798 viewer triangles), and 1 cart, 1.0 m, empty, ore 0 (1,790 viewer triangles). The viewer figures include about 290 staging triangles that are not exported. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings, all expected. They cover per-mesh duplicate material names, non-indexed flat shading, and nested overlaps (end plates on buffer beams, flanges on treads). Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract is supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated. three-check and the GLB keep all 7 ids. One fix round: the top view was framed wider so the whole train fits. The viewer exposure (0.7) and ground disc are not part of the GLB.
About the Ore carts 3D model
Ore carts is a free low-poly 3D model from the Mine and Quarry set. It measures 98 cm × 1.1 m × 3.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,984 triangles across 16 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 297 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Ore carts 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 297 KB: 2,984 triangles, 8,952 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 98 cm × 1.1 m × 3.7 m.
- Can I animate Ore carts?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Ore carts 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
