Torch flames

A low-poly ancient Greek sanctuary torch: a fluted marble shaft on a stepped, painted plinth, topped by an iron fire cup of pitch-soaked wood with a crown of faceted terracotta flames. The flames flicker on a seamless 4-second loop while the stand stays still.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Torch flames for the Greek Acropolis kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Greek Acropolis kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): White temples on a rocky hill. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: marble #e8e6e3, aegean blue #2e67b8, olive green #3a883a, terracotta #be5937, marble dark #c6bfb9, aegean blue dark #1f457a, marble light #f8f7f7, aegean blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `paintedOrBareMarble` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Painted or bare marble" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: About 0.56 m square and 2.13 m tall to the flame tip at rest (the flicker stretches the flames up to about 2.17 m). Origin is the bottom centre and the plinth rests on y = 0. The GLB has 1,322 triangles and one 4 s loop clip, 'scene-motion'. Each flame part sways and stretches about its own root inside the fuel bundle, using rotation plus a volume-preserving scale. Plinth, shaft, capital, cup and fuel are static. Because the export was taken after a seek, the static node pose in the GLB is the t = 2 s frame. paintedOrBareMarble is stepped: below 0.15 the marble is bare, from 0.15 an aegean-blue band and collar appear, and from 0.45 terracotta squares and a capital fillet are added. flicker only scales the motion amplitude, and 0 gives still flames. glb-lint reports 0 errors; its verdict is UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. It flags 19 materials because the exporter writes one material per mesh, but only 9 distinct palette names are used. plan-check rejects the hyphenated slug part ids the library requires, so it was verified as PASS on a de-hyphenated copy.

About the Torch flames 3D model

Torch flames is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Greek Acropolis set. It measures 56 cm × 2.1 m × 56 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,322 triangles across 19 meshes, with 12 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 153 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Torch flames 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 153 KB: 1,322 triangles, 3,966 vertices and 19 materials, modelled in metres at 56 cm × 2.1 m × 56 cm.
Is Torch flames animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Torch flames 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
