Lyres

A low-poly votive display of ancient Greek lyres: a tall wooden concert kithara between two tortoise-shell chelys lyres, each in a wooden cradle on a low marble offering base. One knob brings back the ancient blue and red paint.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Lyres for the Greek Acropolis kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Greek Acropolis kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): White temples on a rocky hill. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: marble #e8e6e3, aegean blue #2e67b8, olive green #3a883a, terracotta #be5937, marble dark #c6bfb9, aegean blue dark #1f457a, marble light #f8f7f7, aegean blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `paintedOrBareMarble` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Painted or bare marble" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2.18 m wide (X) × 0.6 m deep (Z) × 1.26 m tall to the kithara's arm tops. The marble base is 0.23 m high. The kithara is 1.0 m tall and about 0.7 m across the yoke. The two chelys lyres are about 0.8 m tall with 0.32 m shells. Each instrument is sunk 3 cm into a 7 cm dark-wood cradle. The origin is at the bottom centre and the footing rests on y = 0. The front (strings and soundboards) faces +Z. The GLB has 1,928 triangles in 14 meshes. It is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. At the default, 7 of the 12 colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. paintedOrBareMarble (the kit's 'Painted or bare marble' knob): 0 is all bare. From 0.25 the base's front and back panels are aegean blue. From 0.5 the base moulding is terracotta (at the default 0.5, both are painted). From 0.75 the kithara's volutes turn aegean blue and its soundbox band terracotta. lyreCount: 1 is the kithara alone, 2 adds one chelys on its left, 3 is the symmetric trio; the base resizes to fit. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the default was fully checked; the extremes were not rendered. Strings are 9 mm thick so they survive at thumbnail size. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected. They are duplicate same-named materials from the per-mesh export (hence 14 materials, over the direction's 10); deliberately non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets; nested siblings (moulding and panels on the base course, bridge on the soundbox); and cradles and chelys strings flagged 'detached' because they rest on other parts, not siblings. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 7 ids.

About the Lyres 3D model

Lyres is a free low-poly 3D model from the Greek Acropolis set. It measures 2.2 m × 1.3 m × 60 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,928 triangles across 14 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 148 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Lyres 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 148 KB: 1,928 triangles, 5,784 vertices and 14 materials, modelled in metres at 2.2 m × 1.3 m × 60 cm.
Can I animate Lyres?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Lyres 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
