How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Barbecue for the Garden and Patio kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garden and Patio kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A back garden through the seasons. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: grass green #3a883a, terracotta #be5937, wood #7d5736, flower pinks #e085a3, grass green dark #235223, terracotta dark #823d26, grass green light #5db15d, terracotta light #d08971, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

  • Barbecue
  • Kettle bowl
  • Cooking grate
  • Charcoal
  • Food on the grate
  • Hinged lid
  • Legs and axle
  • Wheels
  • Ash pan
  • Side shelf

Note: Size: 1.01 m wide (side shelf to wheel) × 0.75 m deep. The bowl is 0.60 m across with its rim at 0.72 m. The barbecue is 1.03 m tall with the lid closed and 1.30 m with the lid open at the default 0.7 (about 55°). The bottom rests on y = 0 (front foot cap and both tyres), the origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint and the front faces +Z. The side shelf is on the left (−X) and the lid hinges at the back. The GLB has 3,448 triangles in 28 meshes. It is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so some colour names repeat; recolour by name. The lid opening is baked into the lid geometry, not a node rotation, so in Godot, Unity or Blender it cannot be swung open or shut by rotating a node. Pick the lid param in the viewer before exporting instead. The lid is built about the back hinge and never dips below the rim plane. season (the kit's 'Season'; 0 = early spring, 0.5 = high summer, 1 = late autumn) fills the grate from 1 item to 8 (sausages and burgers, peaking at midsummer) and raises the share of glowing embers in the coals. It also scatters pink and warm-white blossom petals on the shelf below 0.25, and terracotta and wood fallen leaves above 0.75. Those appear as an extra 'leaves' part, which is not in the default GLB. height moves the kettle up or down on its legs, and shelf changes the shelf's width. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. The defaults and both extremes passed three-check: season 0 / lid closed / height 0.64 / shelf 0.22, and season 1 / lid fully open / height 0.8 / shelf 0.45. The viewer's lawn-green ground disc and its exposure of 0.6 are staging only and are not in the GLB. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings, all expected: duplicate materials (per-mesh export) and non-indexed geometry (on purpose, for hard flat facets). Overlapping siblings are colour bands of one lathe shell and coal lumps sharing bounds. 'Detached' parts are the grate ring, burgers and shelf rails, which rest on or enter the bowl, the grate bars and the bowl wall by exact tangent contact. The verdict line reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 10 ids. Fix rounds: 1 (framing only: hero and side margins widened so the front foot and wheels clear the frame).

About the Barbecue 3D model

Barbecue is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garden and Patio set. It measures 1.0 m × 1.3 m × 75 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,448 triangles across 28 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 267 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Barbecue 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 267 KB: 3,448 triangles, 10,344 vertices and 28 materials, modelled in metres at 1.0 m × 1.3 m × 75 cm.
Can I animate Barbecue?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Barbecue 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
