Lanterns

A low-poly hurricane camping lantern: a green fuel tank, a frosted glass globe with a lit flame inside a wire guard, two side tubes into a vented top cap and a wire bail handle with a wooden grip. Part of the Campground kit.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Lanterns for the Campground kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Campground kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tents, vans and a lake. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: forest green #3a883a, canvas tan #bf9769, flame orange #ed7e1d, lake blue #2e67b8, forest green dark #235223, canvas tan dark #9a7142, forest green light #5db15d, canvas tan light #d2bca2, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 0.21 m wide across the handle pivots, 0.19 m deep at the foot ring and 0.32 m tall with the handle up (defaults). The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the bottom centre and the front (wick knob) faces +Z. The GLB has 1,772 triangles in 15 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; the globe is a translucent copy of warm white (opacity 0.35, double-sided) and the flame uses emissive copies of flame orange and warm white with the same names, so some names appear more than once. Recolour by name. Lake blue, the tans and the light/dark greens are not used on this part. season (the kit's 'Season'; 0 = early spring, 0.5 = high summer, 1 = late autumn) turns the wick up for longer nights: the flame grows from 5 to 8 cm and glows brighter. globeHeight stretches the globe, guard and side tubes; handleLift folds the bail handle from upright (1) back over the cap (0). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; three-check ran at the defaults only. The viewer uses exposure 0.62; this does not affect the GLB. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 expected warnings: material count and duplicate material names (per-mesh export plus the glass and glow copies), non-indexed geometry (on purpose, for hard flat facets), overlapping siblings (the flame sits inside the globe, the tank on its foot ring) and scale (a 0.32 m hand lantern measured against a 1 m reference). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes.

About the Lanterns 3D model

Lanterns is a free low-poly 3D model from the Campground set. It measures 22 cm × 32 cm × 18 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,772 triangles across 15 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 139 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Lanterns 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 139 KB: 1,772 triangles, 5,316 vertices and 15 materials, modelled in metres at 22 cm × 32 cm × 18 cm.
Can I animate Lanterns?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Lanterns 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
