Stone walls

A low-poly dry-stone field wall for an autumn orchard. This 3 m modular run has battered courses of rough grey and russet stones, through-stones, quoined ends and a jagged cock-and-hen coping, with fallen leaves and windfall apples at its foot. It snaps end to end on a 1 m grid.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Stone walls for the Autumn Orchard kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Autumn Orchard kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Harvest time on a small farm. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: russet #988e81, apple red #c32222, gold #d0a225, cream #f1e7d0, russet dark #70685c, apple red dark #821717, russet light #b6b3af, apple red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: at the defaults the wall is 3.0 m long, 0.95 m tall to the top of the core and 1.225 m to the tallest coping stone. It is 0.70 m thick at the foot (about 0.82 m across the footing stones) and 0.42 m under the coping; the leaves reach about 0.85 m either side of the centreline. Snapping: the wall runs along +X from its snapping end at the origin (x = 0, ground level, centred in thickness on z = 0) to x = length, which is always whole metres (1–6). The next piece's origin goes at x = length. The front face looks towards +Z, and the wall rests on y = 0. On purpose, this breaks the library's usual bottom-centre origin, because the brief asks for an end origin on modular pieces. Every stone stays inside x = 0.007 … length − 0.007, so chained pieces meet with a hairline joint and never overlap. Both ends are closed with alternating quoins and footing end stones, so a single piece looks finished. Through-stones sit on a fixed 1 m rhythm (x = 0.5, 1.5, …), so chained runs keep the pattern. The GLB has 2,680 triangles in 19 meshes (merged per part and colour), with flat normals (non-indexed) and no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so some names repeat; recolour by name. season (the kit's 'Season', 0 = late summer, 1 = late autumn) shifts the leaves from gold toward apple red dark, adds more of them (about 8 → 30 per metre) and adds more windfall apples. stoneSize scales the courses and stone lengths. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. stoneSize's minimum was raised to 0.9 to keep the 6 m × 1.3 m worst case under the 10k triangle budget; that worst case is an estimate (about 9k), not an export. The pale floor in the preview is viewer staging and is not in the GLB. The 390×844 portrait capture crops the wall tightly. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings, all expected: more than 10 materials and duplicate names (one material per mesh), non-indexed flat shading, and overlapping sibling bounding boxes (stone meshes interleaved along the same wall). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 9 survive the GLB reload. Fix rounds: (1) the core end showed past the quoins, the stones were too pale and regular (it read as brick), and the leaf drifts were flat hexagons. Fix: core inset, darker stone mix, tops that dip unevenly, drifts removed. (2) A black gap at the footing ends and missing through-stones. Fix: footing end stones, and a fitted through-stone band. (3) Short quoins on the through-stone band, and leaning coping stones clamped inside the snapping ends.

About the Stone walls 3D model

Stone walls is a free low-poly 3D model from the Autumn Orchard set. It measures 3.0 m × 1.2 m × 1.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,680 triangles across 19 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 205 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Stone walls 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 205 KB: 2,680 triangles, 8,040 vertices and 19 materials, modelled in metres at 3.0 m × 1.2 m × 1.7 m.
Can I animate Stone walls?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Stone walls 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
