Scarecrows

A low-poly field scarecrow on a braced wooden post. It has a stitched burlap sack head under a wide felt hat, a patched red shirt, dangling trousers, straw bursting from every cuff, and a crow perched on one arm.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Scarecrows for the Autumn Orchard kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Autumn Orchard kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Harvest time on a small farm. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: russet #988e81, apple red #c32222, gold #d0a225, cream #f1e7d0, russet dark #70685c, apple red dark #821717, russet light #b6b3af, apple red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.97 m tall to the hat crown, 1.64 m wide across the straw at the cuffs (1.5 m arm span), 0.64 m deep across the cross-foot. That is life-size for a field scarecrow. The origin is at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0 on a cross-braced plank foot, and the face points +Z. The GLB has 1,532 triangles in 16 meshes and no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Each material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. season (the kit's 'Season', 0 = late summer, 1 = late autumn) changes colours in steps. The shirt goes from apple red light (below 0.34) to apple red, then to apple red dark (above 0.67). Above 0.67 the straw also weathers from gold to russet light, and the chest patch turns cream. armSpan sets the crossbar and sleeve length. headTilt rolls the head, face and hat together about the neck. crows sets 0, 1 or 2 perched crows; crow_left only exists when crows = 2, and crow_right is absent when crows = 0. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings, all expected: more than 10 materials and duplicate names (one material per mesh), non-indexed flat shading, and overlapping siblings (the patches, rope ties and straw nest on the clothes by design). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 10 survive the GLB reload. Fix round 1: the dotted grin read as skull teeth, so it was replaced with a stitched thread line with cross stitches. The hero, front, side and back views were also loosened because the cross-foot crowded the bottom toolbar.

About the Scarecrows 3D model

Scarecrows is a free low-poly 3D model from the Autumn Orchard set. It measures 1.6 m × 2.0 m × 64 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,532 triangles across 16 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 122 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Scarecrows 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 122 KB: 1,532 triangles, 4,596 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 1.6 m × 2.0 m × 64 cm.
Can I animate Scarecrows?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Scarecrows 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
