Solar rows

A low-poly block of three single-axis solar tracker rows at real scale: framed blue modules two-high on torque tubes, steel piles with bearing yokes and slew drives, a cable trench and an inverter station with a green transformer.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Solar rows for the Wind and Solar Farm kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Wind and Solar Farm kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Clean power on open land. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, panel blue #2e67b8, grass green #3a883a, signal red #e90c0c, white dark #d7cebc, panel blue dark #1f457a, white light #f9f8f6, panel blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `windSpeed` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Wind speed" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: about 15.7 m (east-west, including the inverter station) by 19 m deep by 3.64 m high. Each row is a 10.35 m single-axis tracker carrying 9 bays of two 1.13 x 2.28 m modules in portrait (54 modules in all), with the torque tube 2.3 m above grade and rows 7.5 m apart. Units are metres, +Y up, the modules face +Z, and the origin is the bottom centre of the footprint, with every pile and the pad on y = 0. The GLB has 5,172 triangles in 35 meshes; the largest setting (4 rows x 12 modules) stays under about 8,800. It is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (8 of the 12). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. windSpeed (the kit's 'Wind speed') is tracker wind stow: below 0.25 the tables tilt 40 degrees, they flatten as the wind rises, and from 0.9 up they lie flat. At the default 0.5 the tilt is about 30 degrees. It is a pose, not motion. Each row_N_table is a separate group pivoted on its torque-tube axis, so you can turn the tables about their local X in your engine. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the viewer rebuilds the scene. modulesPerRow snaps to whole 3-module pile bays. glb-lint reported 0 errors. Its warnings are expected: more than 10 materials because there is one material per mesh, non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, intended nesting of yokes, cells and vents, and a 'scale' heuristic that expects 1 m objects. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes, and three-check and the GLB reload keep all 12 ids.

About the Solar rows 3D model

Solar rows is a free low-poly 3D model from the Wind and Solar Farm set. It measures 16 m × 3.6 m × 19 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,172 triangles across 35 meshes, with 12 named parts. Download the 393 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Solar rows 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 393 KB: 5,172 triangles, 15,516 vertices and 35 materials, modelled in metres at 16 m × 3.6 m × 19 m.
Can I animate Solar rows?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 12 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Solar rows 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
