Diving bell

A low-poly closed diving bell: a yellow faceted bell with a flared skirt, round viewports and a front entry hatch, hung from a lifting bail and standing in a blue protective frame with gas bottles at the back. In a seamless 8-second loop the hatch wheel unlocks, the door swings open and shut, the bail sways and the frame lamp turns.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Diving bell for the Underwater Research Dome kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Underwater Research Dome kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A science base on the sea floor. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: deep blue #1b447e, aqua #47d1d1, yellow #eecd2b, white #f4f1ec, deep blue dark #0d223f, aqua dark #29a3a3, deep blue light #2e67b8, aqua light #88dddd, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `depthAndLight` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Depth and light" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2.6 m wide and deep across the protective frame (2.04 m across the bell skirt), 3.06 m tall to the top of the lifting bail (bell crown at 2.35 m); origin at bottom centre, skid soles on y = 0, hatch faces +Z. 2600 triangles. Every material is named after its kit palette colour (10 colours; deep blue light and dark wood are unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (8 s, seamless) only moves hinged parts on their pivots: the handwheel unlocks on its axle, the hatch door swings open and closes on its vertical hinge, the wheel locks again, the bail sways on its pin and the frame lamp head turns once on its swivel. The bell and frame never move. Params are baked into the GLB at their default values. depthAndLight sets the lamp lens and viewport glow and how far the lamp head tilts down. bellHeight, viewportCount and hatchSwing change the geometry or the door's swing only when the scene is rebuilt. glb-lint: 0 errors, 6 heuristic warnings (material count above the direction default, intended overlaps such as glass in its frames and the door over its coaming, exact-contact parts flagged as detached, height 3.06 m vs the direction's 1 m reference). Note: the kit's plan-check rejects hyphens in part ids, so design-plan.md fails plan-check only on the slug-based ids this library requires; three-check accepts them and all 15 ids survive the GLB reload.

About the Diving bell 3D model

Diving bell is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Underwater Research Dome set. It measures 2.7 m × 3.1 m × 2.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,600 triangles across 24 meshes, with 15 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 245 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Diving bell 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 245 KB: 2,600 triangles, 5,884 vertices and 24 materials, modelled in metres at 2.7 m × 3.1 m × 2.7 m.
Is Diving bell animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Diving bell 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
