Mini submarine
A low-poly two-seat research submarine with a yellow faceted hull, acrylic bow dome, ducted stern propeller, side thrusters, searchlights and a sample arm on landing skids. Its props spin, fins swing, lamps sweep and the arm reaches in a seamless 6-second loop.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Mini submarine for the Underwater Research Dome kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Underwater Research Dome kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A science base on the sea floor. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: deep blue #1b447e, aqua #47d1d1, yellow #eecd2b, white #f4f1ec, deep blue dark #0d223f, aqua dark #29a3a3, deep blue light #2e67b8, aqua light #88dddd, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `depthAndLight` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Depth and light" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 3.53 m long (bow dome to stern duct), 1.94 m wide across the thrusters, 1.92 m tall, at the default hull length of 3.0 m; origin at bottom centre, skid soles on y = 0, bow faces +Z. 1366 triangles. Every material is named after its kit palette colour (11 colours, dark wood unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials; recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (6 s, seamless) moves only hinged parts on their pivots: main propeller, thruster rotors, rudders, dive planes, searchlight swivels and the sample arm (shoulder, elbow, claw). The hull and skids never move. Params are baked into the GLB at their default values: depthAndLight sets the lamp lens glow and how far the searchlights tilt down; hullLength, bladeCount and armReach change geometry or the loop amplitude only when the scene is rebuilt. glb-lint: 0 errors, 5 heuristic warnings (material count above the direction default, intended overlaps such as the band on the hull and embedded fins, rotors inside their ducts).
About the Mini submarine 3D model
Mini submarine is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Underwater Research Dome set. It measures 2.0 m × 1.9 m × 3.5 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,366 triangles across 34 meshes, with 26 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 182 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Mini submarine 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 182 KB: 1,366 triangles, 2,342 vertices and 34 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 1.9 m × 3.5 m.
- Is Mini submarine animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Mini submarine 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
