Carpets

A low-poly carpet trader's pitch for a Silk Road caravanserai: a red patterned rug laid on the ground, an indigo rug hung over a wooden display rack, a stack of folded carpets on a pallet and rolled carpets beside it.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Carpets for the Silk Road Caravanserai kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Silk Road Caravanserai kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A walled inn for desert traders. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mud brick #9e3d2e, indigo #2d2d76, saffron #eead2b, carpet red #c32222, mud brick dark #63261d, indigo dark #18183f, mud brick light #c66253, indigo light #4848a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `goodsOnSale` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Goods on sale" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 3.96 m wide (X) × 3.53 m deep (Z) × 2.29 m tall to the rack finials. The laid rug is 1.8 × 2.7 m plus fringe, the hung rug is 1.7 m wide, and the rack rail is 2.03 m up. The origin is at the bottom centre, everything rests on y = 0, and the laid rug faces +Z. The GLB has 1,460 triangles in 20 meshes. It is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 7 of the 12 kit colours are used at the defaults. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. goodsOnSale (the kit's 'Goods on sale' knob) sets how much stock is out. The folded stack holds 2 + round(goodsOnSale × 6) carpets (5 at the default), and there are round(goodsOnSale × 3) rolls (2 at the default). Indigo dark only appears from the sixth folded carpet. At 0 the 'rolls' part is absent. rugLength (2.2–3.4 m) and rackHeight (1.8–2.4 m) resize the laid rug and the rack. The GLB bakes all params at their defaults. They only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer, and only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected: per-mesh duplicate palette materials, deliberately non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, overlapping sibling boxes because the pattern sits on the rug pile, and a 2.3 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex does not allow hyphens. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 6 ids.

About the Carpets 3D model

Carpets is a free low-poly 3D model from the Silk Road Caravanserai set. It measures 4.0 m × 2.3 m × 3.5 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,460 triangles across 20 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 119 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Carpets 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 119 KB: 1,460 triangles, 4,380 vertices and 20 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 2.3 m × 3.5 m.
Can I animate Carpets?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Carpets 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
