Tool carts

A low-poly rolling mechanic's tool cart for a mech repair bay: a striped drawer cabinet with the top drawer pulled open, on an open lower shelf and four braked casters, with oversized mech tools on a lipped top tray, a yellow push handle and a pegboard of hanging wrenches.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Tool carts for the Mech Hangar kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mech Hangar kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bay where giant robots are repaired. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: steel grey #757e8a, safety yellow #ffdd33, navy #1c2a54, red #c32222, steel grey dark #525860, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, steel grey light #a3a5a8, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mechColourAndLoadout` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mech colour and loadout" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size at defaults: 1.54 m long (pegboard tools to push handle) x 1.25 m tall (top of the impact gun on the tray; tray lip at about 1.04 m) x 0.94 m deep (open drawer to hose reel). The cabinet body itself is 1.3 x 0.6 m. Origin is bottom-centre, casters rest on y = 0, and the drawers face +Z. Part ids use the sanitized slug 'mechhangartoolcarts' because the kit's plan validator does not allow hyphens in ids, matching the other Mech Hangar assets. mechColourAndLoadout sets the cabinet's mech colour (navy below 0.33, red up to 0.67, warm white above) and the number of tools on the tray (1 to 4: mech wrench, impact gun, parts bin, mech bolt); the lower-shelf toolbox and can are always there. drawerOpen slides the top drawer out by up to 0.4 m and shows its tray of sockets. 2,756 triangles in the GLB at defaults. Static asset, so the GLB has no animation clips. The GLB has 37 material slots that are per-mesh copies of 9 palette materials, each named exactly after its palette colour, so recolouring by name still works. glb-lint found no errors; its 3 heuristic warnings are expected: the material copies, and part meshes that sit inside one another (embedded joins) rather than touching at a surface.
