Overhead crane

A low-poly double-girder overhead bridge crane on its own four-column runway, carrying a mech part on its hook. It loops an 8-second cycle: the bridge travels along the runway, the trolley crosses the girders and the hook lifts and swivels.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Overhead crane for the Mech Hangar kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Mech Hangar kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bay where giant robots are repaired. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: steel grey #757e8a, safety yellow #ffdd33, navy #1c2a54, red #c32222, steel grey dark #525860, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, steel grey light #a3a5a8, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mechColourAndLoadout` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mech colour and loadout" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 15 m wide (14 m span) x 13.8 m tall x 12 m deep (runway length), origin at the bottom centre, front facing +Z. The columns and runway beams never move. One baked 8 s loop (scene-motion): the bridge travels ±2.6 m along the runway, the trolley ±3 m across the girders, the hook lifts 3 m and swivels. Wheel and drum spin follow the distance travelled, and the loop closes exactly. Material names are the exact kit palette colour names. The exporter writes one material copy per mesh (63 in the GLB, 10 unique names), so recolour by material name. Motion pivots carry crane.* ids; visible parts carry mech-hangar-overhead-crane.* ids. mechColourAndLoadout picks the hook load in three bands: 0–0.33 red armour plate, 0.33–0.67 navy forearm (default), 0.67–1 warm-white mech head. It is a stepped choice, not a smooth blend. span, columnHeight, liftHeight and the loadout rebuild the model in the viewer. The GLB is the default configuration. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract exists. Warnings were limited to the duplicate per-mesh materials, intended nested parts and the 13.8 m height versus a 1 m reference.
