Repair bay

A low-poly mech repair bay: a hazard-striped service pad where a tall docking frame clamps a giant robot whose left arm has been removed and laid on trestles, while a yellow robotic repair arm welds at the open shoulder beside a railed scaffold work tower.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Repair bay for the Mech Hangar kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mech Hangar kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bay where giant robots are repaired. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: steel grey #757e8a, safety yellow #ffdd33, navy #1c2a54, red #c32222, steel grey dark #525860, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, steel grey light #a3a5a8, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mechColourAndLoadout` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mech colour and loadout" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size at defaults: 16 m wide x 12.35 m tall (top of the frame beacons; the frame beam is at 12 m) x 14 m deep. The mech stands about 10.2 m tall on the 0.3 m service pad, which fits the kit's 22 x 13 m hangar door. The origin is at the bottom centre of the pad, the front faces +Z, and the ground disc is stage-only, not in the model. Part ids use the slug sanitized to mechhangarrepairbay because the kit's part-id grammar does not allow hyphens. mechColourAndLoadout is the kit knob: it sets the mech colour (warm white with navy trim below 0.33, navy with warm white trim at the 0.5 default, red above 0.67), the rows of missile cells in the shoulder pod (1 to 4) and the length of the forearm cannon. bayWidth moves the frame columns, scaffold, repair arm and props outward. deckLevels sets 1 to 3 scaffold decks. armReach moves the welding head from parked (0) to the open shoulder socket (1). 4100 triangles at defaults in the GLB. Static asset: the GLB has no animation clips. The exporter clones each mesh's material, so the GLB lists 44 material slots, but they share 12 names and each name is exactly a palette colour. glb-lint found no errors. Its 4 heuristic warnings are expected here: the material count, the duplicate material copies, the clamp arms flagged as touching no sibling (they are sunk into the frame columns and the mech's armour), and a 12 m height compared with a default scale guess of 1 m.
