Gantry towers

A low-poly pair of steel maintenance gantry towers for a mech repair bay: braced lattice towers with cantilevered work decks, caged ladders and hazard-striped bases, joined by a yellow twin-girder bridge carrying a hoist trolley, hook block and a slung weapon pod.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Gantry towers for the Mech Hangar kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mech Hangar kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bay where giant robots are repaired. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: steel grey #757e8a, safety yellow #ffdd33, navy #1c2a54, red #c32222, steel grey dark #525860, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, steel grey light #a3a5a8, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mechColourAndLoadout` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mech colour and loadout" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world size at defaults: 17.7 m wide (ladder cage to ladder cage) x 18.0 m tall (top of hoist trolley; tower tops at 15 m) x 3.6 m deep, with a 10 m clear bay between the towers, sized for a 10-12 m mech. Origin is bottom-centre of the bay; the bay opens front/back along Z. Part ids carry the sanitized slug 'mechhangargantrytowers' because the plan validator's id grammar does not allow hyphens. mechColourAndLoadout sets the mech colour of the loadout (navy below 0.33, red to 0.67, warm white above), the number of ammo canisters on the pallet (1-4), and hangs a launcher pod from the hook from 0.25 up; the gantry itself keeps its colours. Deck reach is capped so a 3 m lane down the bay centre always stays clear for the hook and pod. 6490 triangles at defaults (about 8k at the largest settings). Static asset: the GLB has no animation clips. The GLB's 34 material slots are per-mesh copies of 11 palette materials, each named exactly after its palette colour, so recolouring by name still works. glb-lint found no errors. Its 4 heuristic warnings are expected here: the material copies, decks/bridge/hoist meshes that sit inside other parts rather than touching them, and an 18 m height against a default 1 m scale guess.
