Fuel drums

Four 208-litre steel fuel drums cinched with a ratchet strap on a wooden block pallet, one fitted with a rotary hand pump. A low-poly, flat-shaded prop for a mech repair hangar.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Fuel drums for the Mech Hangar kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Mech Hangar kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bay where giant robots are repaired. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: steel grey #757e8a, safety yellow #ffdd33, navy #1c2a54, red #c32222, steel grey dark #525860, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, steel grey light #a3a5a8, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mechColourAndLoadout` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mech colour and loadout" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world scale in metres: the whole load is 1.24 m × 1.255 m × 1.24 m (W × H × D) — each drum is Ø0.58 m × 0.88 m tall (a standard 208 L / 55 US gal drum), the pallet is 1.24 × 1.24 m and 0.156 m high, and the pump top sits at 1.255 m. Origin is at the bottom centre, front faces +Z, static model with no animation clip. 2940 triangles, flat-shaded, no textures. Materials are named after their kit palette colours. The exporter clones one material per mesh, so the same name (e.g. 'red') shows up on several GLB materials. Recolour by material name, not by material index. The default export is the knob value 0.5: red drums, one navy drum, safety-yellow bands. Across 0–1, mechColourAndLoadout steps through five drum/band schemes: navy/yellow, steel grey/red, red/yellow, safety yellow/soot black, steel grey dark/warm white. The other params change the geometry, but the GLB only carries the defaults. The ratchet strap appears only when there are 4 drums. Without the pallet the drums recentre on the origin. The model root's part id is 'fueldrums' because the kit's plan grammar doesn't allow hyphens. Every other part uses the mech-hangar-fuel-drums.* ids. glb-lint has no blocking errors (verdict UNVERIFIED because no requirements contract was supplied). Its four heuristic warnings are the per-mesh material clones, the band/body nesting, and the strap touching the drums with 1 mm clearance.
