Floor tiles with markings

A 4 × 4 m low-poly steel deck floor tile for a mech repair hangar, with yellow bay lines, yellow-and-black hazard corners and a raised mech foot pad with tie-down anchors. It tiles seamlessly in every direction.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Floor tiles with markings for the Mech Hangar kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Mech Hangar kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bay where giant robots are repaired. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: steel grey #757e8a, safety yellow #ffdd33, navy #1c2a54, red #c32222, steel grey dark #525860, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, steel grey light #a3a5a8, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mechColourAndLoadout` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mech colour and loadout" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

  • Tie-down anchors

Note: Size: 4.0 × 4.0 m footprint, 0.10 m deck surface, 0.181 m to the top of the tie-down bars. Origin at the tile centre, bottom on y = 0. Each outer edge carries a half seam groove so neighbouring tiles complete it, and the markings are mirror-symmetric, so corner hazard stripes form diamonds where four tiles meet. Materials are named after their kit palette colour. mechColourAndLoadout picks the pad target colour (below 0.33 red, 0.33–0.67 navy, above that safety yellow dark) and the number of loadout slot marks (1–4, 3 at the default); the exported GLB is the default (navy, 3 marks). Part ids use the form mechhangar.floor_tiles_with_markings.* because the kit's part-id schema does not allow hyphens. The viewer uses a lower exposure (0.55) so the palette colours aren't washed out; this changes only the viewer, not the GLB. 1108 triangles, no textures, no animation. glb-lint has no errors, only heuristic warnings: export clones one material per mesh, so palette names repeat across 12 materials, and geometry is non-indexed for flat shading.
