Rolling-ladder rail
A low-poly library rolling-ladder rail: a brass rail on rosette wall brackets, a floor track with a brass guide strip, and a dark-wood library ladder hooked over the rail with a few books left on its top step. It is a modular 2 m piece that snaps on a 1 m grid.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Rolling-ladder rail for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2 m long (X, a whole number of metres on the 1 m grid), 2.06 m tall (brass rail centre at 2.0 m) and about 0.67 m deep including the ladder foot and floor track. Origin: the snapping end, which is the left end seen from the front (x = 0), at the mounting face (z = 0, where the rosettes meet the shelf front or wall), at floor level. The run spans x = 0 to x = length and the model rests on y = 0. It is designed to stand in front of the kit's bookshelf walls with z = 0 on the shelf fronts. The rail tube and floor track run flush to both ends, so chained pieces read as one continuous rail. There is a bracket on every grid metre, and the end brackets are pulled in by the rosette radius, so a joint shows two rosettes side by side. Without a wall or shelf behind it, the rail is held only by the ladder hooks and the rosettes face empty space. The GLB has 568 triangles in 10 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip; three-check's higher figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') sets the share of the three books on the ladder's top tread drawn from the bright kit colours (greens, parchment, warm white, mid grey) instead of leather tones. The book stack comes from a fixed seed, so it is deterministic. Book meshes are named per colour (books.<colour>), so which ones exist depends on bookColours. length (1–4 m) rebuilds the run, railHeight (1.6–2.4 m) raises the rail and lengthens the ladder, and ladderPos slides the ladder along the rail. The min extreme (1 m, 1.6 m, position 0, colours 0) passed three-check at 500 GLB triangles and the max extreme (4 m, 2.4 m, position 1, colours 1) at 704. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its heuristic warnings cover overlapping sibling boxes (tube in its brackets, treads between stiles), books reported as detached (each cover colour is its own mesh on the tread), and a 2.06 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 10 planned ids. Fix round 1 thickened the rail, rosettes and stiles so the rail reads at thumbnail size. Fix round 2 loosened the hero framing so the floor track is not cropped.
About the Rolling-ladder rail 3D model
Rolling-ladder rail is a free low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 2.0 m × 2.1 m × 70 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 568 triangles across 10 meshes, with 12 named parts. Download the 50 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Rolling-ladder rail 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 50 KB: 568 triangles, 1,704 vertices and 10 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 2.1 m × 70 cm.
- Can I animate Rolling-ladder rail?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 12 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Rolling-ladder rail 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
