Panelled walls

A low-poly, full-height library wall panelling: a mahogany stile-and-rail frame with faceted raised panels, deep green fields under a stepped cornice, a dark-wood chair rail and skirting, plus a bracketed book ledge and a brass sconce. It is a modular 2 m piece that snaps on a 1 m grid.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Panelled walls for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2 m long (X, a whole number of metres on the 1 m grid), 2.4 m tall and 0.11 m deep as panelling; 0.26 m deep at the book ledge and sconce. Origin: the snapping end, which is the left end seen from the front (x = 0), at the back face (z = 0, so the piece sits flush against a room wall), at floor level. The run spans x = 0 to x = length, the panels face +Z and the model rests on y = 0. End stiles are half width, so two pieces butt into one full stile and the panel rhythm continues across the joint. Skirting, chair rail and cornice run flush to both ends. Even grid metres carry a book ledge and odd ones a brass sconce, so chained pieces alternate. A 1 m piece carries a shorter ledge and a sconce. The back is a plain dark mahogany board meant to face a wall. The GLB has 924 triangles in 20 meshes. It is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 1,214-triangle figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. Which book colours appear depends on bookColours, so with the defaults soot black and mid grey are not in the GLB. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') sets the share of ledge books drawn from the bright kit colours (greens, parchment, warm white, brass, mid grey) instead of leather tones. At 0 every book is a leather brown or black; at 1 about 60 % are bright. The book layout comes from a fixed seed, so it is deterministic. length (1–4 m) rebuilds the run, panels sets 1–3 panel columns per metre, and dadoHeight moves the chair rail from 0.75 to 1.1 m. Both extremes passed three-check: the max (4 m, 3 panels, 1.1 m, colours 1) at 2,414 triangles with staging and the min (1 m, 1 panel, 0.75 m, colours 0) at 826. Ledge books are open boxes with no bottom or back face, which are never visible against the shelf and the wall. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings. They cover material count and exporter duplicates, non-indexed geometry (deliberate flat shading) and overlapping sibling boxes (panels nest inside the frame). The ledge shelf and brackets are reported as detached because they fix to the panelling, which sits outside their 'ledge' group. The last warning is the 2.4 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. The lint verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. Fix round 1 removed z-fighting on the back between the backing board and the skirting and chair rail, and deepened the fields to forest green dark. Fix round 2 gave 1 m pieces a sconce, so every length carries every part.

About the Panelled walls 3D model

Panelled walls is a free low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 2.0 m × 2.4 m × 30 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 924 triangles across 20 meshes, with 17 named parts. Download the 83 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Panelled walls 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 83 KB: 924 triangles, 2,772 vertices and 20 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 2.4 m × 30 cm.
Can I animate Panelled walls?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 17 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Panelled walls 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
