Mezzanine

A low-poly, double-height library mezzanine: a dark-wood gallery deck on mahogany posts, book-lined shelving below and above the deck under a stepped cornice, a brass-balustered gallery rail, and a mahogany spiral stair winding up a brass pole.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Mezzanine for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 5.6 m wide (X) including the spiral stair, 1.55 m deep (Z) and 4.44 m tall to the cornice. The gallery deck is 4 m long with its walking surface at 2.4 m; the stair is 1.56 m across. Origin: bottom centre of the whole footprint (deck plus stair), resting on y = 0, with the front facing +Z. The deck is therefore offset left of the origin, and that offset is baked into the geometry. The GLB has 8,020 triangles in 35 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 8,310-triangle figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The GLB repeats names because the exporter clones materials per mesh. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') sets the share of spines drawn from the bright kit colours instead of leather tones: 0 is all leather browns and black, 1 is about 60 % bright. bays sets the gallery length (3–5 one-metre bays). deckHeight (2.2–2.8 m) moves the deck, the stair rise count and the lower shelf levels. bookFill thins each shelf row. Book meshes are named per colour (books.<colour>), so which ones exist depends on bookColours. Larger galleries get proportionally thicker books, so the book count stays near the default. The max extreme (5 bays, 2.8 m, fill 1, colours 1) passed three-check at 9,592 triangles, and the min extreme (3 bays, 2.2 m, fill 0.3, colours 0) passed at 4,348. The back is a dark panel with mahogany frame-and-panel joinery, finished for free-standing placement. Upright books are open boxes with no bottom or back face, because those faces are never visible against the shelf and back panel. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings, covering material count and exporter duplicates, non-indexed geometry (deliberate flat shading), overlapping sibling boxes (nested joinery) and a 4.44 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 9 planned ids. Fix round 1 added the back frame-and-panel joinery, which had been a flat black slab, and scaled book thickness so the max param extreme fits the 10,000-triangle budget.

About the Mezzanine 3D model

Mezzanine is a free low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 5.6 m × 4.4 m × 1.6 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 8,020 triangles across 35 meshes, with 31 named parts. Download the 596 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Mezzanine 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 596 KB: 8,020 triangles, 24,060 vertices and 35 materials, modelled in metres at 5.6 m × 4.4 m × 1.6 m.
Can I animate Mezzanine?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 31 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Mezzanine 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
