Nets

A low-poly quayside net-drying rack for the Fishing Harbour kit. A blue diamond-mesh gill net hangs folded over a timber pole on two X-trestles, with white cork floats on one edge and lead weights on the other, and a heap of hauled net with a float line and a rope coil lies at its foot.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Nets for the Fishing Harbour kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Fishing Harbour kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Boats, nets and a sea wall. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sea blue #2e67b8, boat colours #988e81, rope tan #bf9769, grey stone #9c958b, sea blue dark #1f457a, boat colours dark #70685c, sea blue light #6190d1, boat colours light #b6b3af, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `tide` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Tide" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 4.2 m wide (x, pole ends) × 2.45 m tall (trestle tips) × 2.29 m deep (z, trestle feet to the front of the heap). The pole sits at about 2.29 m and the net hangs about 1.4 m below it. The float-line face of the net and the heap face +Z. The origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint, and the trestle feet, the heap and the rope coil rest on y = 0. The hanging net clears the ground. The mesh is drawn at a readable 0.3 m diamond pitch, not real 5 cm fishing mesh. tide (the kit's 'Tide') reads as how freshly the net was hauled: the dark wet band on the hanging net rises from none at 0 to the lower 55% at 1. The GLB has 3,248 triangles in 14 meshes (one per part and colour), is static and carries no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after one of 7 kit palette colours. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: all-max comes to about 5,600 triangles in the viewer count and all-min to about 2,200. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 6 heuristic or direction warnings, all expected: material count and duplicate names (one material per mesh), non-indexed flat shading, overlapping sibling boxes (floats on their line, lashings on the legs), the pole flagged 'detached' because it is alone in its part (it rests in the trestle crossings), and the scale check for a subject taller than 1 m. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated, and three-check and the GLB keep all 8 ids. One visual fix round replaced the square grid with diamond mesh and laid a float line over the heap so it reads as net.

About the Nets 3D model

Nets is a free low-poly 3D model from the Fishing Harbour set. It measures 4.2 m × 2.5 m × 2.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,248 triangles across 14 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 320 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Nets 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 320 KB: 3,248 triangles, 9,744 vertices and 14 materials, modelled in metres at 4.2 m × 2.5 m × 2.3 m.
Can I animate Nets?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Nets 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
