Helmets

A low-poly pair of traditional firefighter helmets set down ready for the alarm: an engine-red firefighter's helmet and a white captain's helmet, each with a ribbed crown, top comb, long rear brim tail and a front shield held by a brass eagle.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Helmets for the Fire Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Fire Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Ready for the alarm. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: engine red #c32222, brick #9e3d2e, brass #b28c34, white #f4f1ec, engine red dark #821717, brick dark #63261d, engine red light #db5757, brick light #c66253, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `engineLivery` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Engine livery" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: each helmet is about 0.29 m wide (X) × 0.42 m long (Z) × 0.20 m tall to the top of the brass eagle (crown 0.165 m above its base). The default pair spans 0.70 m × 0.74 m. The front of each helmet faces roughly +Z (they are yawed a little for the set-down look). The origin is at the bottom centre and the helmets rest on their brim edges at y = 0. The exported model has 1,848 triangles in 15 meshes (merged per part and colour, flat-shaded, non-indexed on purpose). It is static, with no animation clip. Six of the kit's 12 colours are used, and every material is named exactly after its palette colour; recolour by name. Parts are grouped by role across all helmets (crown, comb, band, brim, shield, eagle, liner), so every id survives helmetCount = 1. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. engineLivery (the kit's 'Engine livery') widens the crown's livery band from a 6 mm pinstripe (0) to a 32 mm band (1), and from 0.75 up the brim edge roll turns brass. helmetCount 3 adds a soot-black helmet with a mid-grey comb and engine-red-light shield (adds engine red light and mid grey materials). The all-max setting (livery 1, three helmets, tallest crown, longest tail; 3,062 triangles including the viewer ground) passes three-check. Shields are plain plates, with no numbers or lettering. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings (non-indexed flat shading, per-mesh materials, nested brim layers, parts that touch only meshes in other part groups, and the 0.2 m height against a generic 1 m reference). Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. With the hyphens removed it passes. three-check accepts the real ids, and all 8 survive the GLB reload.

About the Helmets 3D model

Helmets is a free low-poly 3D model from the Fire Station set. It measures 70 cm × 20 cm × 74 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,848 triangles across 15 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 144 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Helmets 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 144 KB: 1,848 triangles, 5,544 vertices and 15 materials, modelled in metres at 70 cm × 20 cm × 74 cm.
Can I animate Helmets?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Helmets 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
