Yard tiles

A low-poly 4 × 4 m fire station apron tile: grey concrete with an engine-red hatched keep-clear box, brick paver courses, white lane lines, a yard drain and a red pillar hydrant with brass caps. It tiles seamlessly in every direction.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Yard tiles for the Fire Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Fire Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Ready for the alarm. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: engine red #c32222, brick #9e3d2e, brass #b28c34, white #f4f1ec, engine red dark #821717, brick dark #63261d, engine red light #db5757, brick light #c66253, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `engineLivery` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Engine livery" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with a 10 cm concrete slab. The tile is 0.81 m tall at the hydrant's top nut; the rest of the tile is under 12 cm. The origin is at the tile centre, the bottom rests on y = 0, and the front faces +Z (the engine-bay doors sit off the −Z edge, behind the keep-clear box). The slab edges are flat. The brick paver courses are half-width strips on both Z borders. The back course is offset half a paver, so neighbouring tiles meet in stretcher bond. The 0.25 m paver pitch divides 4 m, so courses run on unbroken across X seams. The warm-white lane lines are half-width strips on both X borders, so neighbours join into one 15 cm line. Border inlays stop 1 mm short of the slab side to avoid z-fighting. The GLB has 1,624 triangles in 20 meshes and no animation clip; it is static. It uses 11 of the 12 kit colours (dark wood is unused), and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can repeat: recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. engineLivery (the kit's 'Engine livery') widens the hydrant's white livery band from 3 cm to 24 cm, and the white keyline inside the keep-clear frame from 1.5 cm to 8 cm. hatchStripes sets the number of diagonal stripes (4–12). wear sets the number of twin tyre tracks; one short scuff always remains at 0. Both extreme combinations pass three-check. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict prints UNVERIFIED because 5 rules need a requirements contract or a manual review. Its 5 heuristic warnings were reviewed and do not apply: the 'detached' paint and valve plate are seated 8 mm into the slab, the overlaps are inlays set into the slab on purpose, and the geometry is non-indexed on purpose for flat shading. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. A copy with the hyphens removed passes, and three-check accepts the ids.

About the Yard tiles 3D model

Yard tiles is a free low-poly 3D model from the Fire Station set. It measures 4.0 m × 81 cm × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,334 triangles across 18 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 109 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Yard tiles 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 109 KB: 1,334 triangles, 4,002 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 81 cm × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Yard tiles?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Yard tiles 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
