Hydrants

A low-poly engine-red pillar fire hydrant with a domed white bonnet, a brass operating nut, two capped side hose outlets and a big front pumper outlet. It stands on a bolted ground flange on a grey paving pad, with two white-and-red guard posts behind it.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Hydrants for the Fire Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Fire Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Ready for the alarm. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: engine red #c32222, brick #9e3d2e, brass #b28c34, white #f4f1ec, engine red dark #821717, brick dark #63261d, engine red light #db5757, brick light #c66253, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `engineLivery` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Engine livery" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the hydrant is 0.86 m tall at the top of the operating nut. Its barrel is 0.25 m across, the side outlets span about 0.66 m and the front pumper outlet reaches about 0.36 m forward. It stands on a 1.04 × 0.94 m paving pad, 0.08 m thick, with 0.8 m guard posts behind it. The pumper outlet faces +Z. The origin is at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0. The exported model has 1,304 triangles in 15 meshes, merged per part and colour. Flat normals are baked in (non-indexed), and there is no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour, and 7 of the 12 kit colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name can appear on more than one material: recolour by name. engineLivery (the kit's Engine livery knob) repaints the bonnet and outlet caps in three bands: all red (0–0.33), a white bonnet with brass caps (0.33–0.67), and a brass bonnet with white caps (0.67–1). height sets the hydrant from 0.75 to 1.0 m. outlets gives 1 (front pumper only), 2 (two side outlets) or 3 (all). guardPosts sets 0–2 posts. Params change geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; the GLB is baked at the defaults. Both param extremes passed three-check: all minimums gave 1,010 rendered triangles and all maximums 1,302 (counts include the viewer's ground). glb-lint reports 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (one material per mesh), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose) and sibling overlap (parts nest on purpose). It also gives its standing UNVERIFIED verdict for having no requirements contract. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. The viewer's ground disc and light rig are not part of the GLB.

About the Hydrants 3D model

Hydrants is a free low-poly 3D model from the Fire Station set. It measures 1.0 m × 86 cm × 94 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,304 triangles across 15 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 105 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Hydrants 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 105 KB: 1,304 triangles, 3,912 vertices and 15 materials, modelled in metres at 1.0 m × 86 cm × 94 cm.
Can I animate Hydrants?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Hydrants 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
