Cryo pods

A low-poly bank of two upright cryo sleep pods from a derelict space station: octagonal capsules with glowing frosted windows, red emergency beacons and coolant hoses feeding a rear service spine. The left pod's door hangs open on its hinge, showing the empty sleeper bed inside.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Cryo pods for the Derelict Space Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Derelict Space Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): An abandoned station with failing power. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: gunmetal #454d54, emergency red #c32222, pale green #79af79, black #151619, gunmetal dark #22262a, emergency red dark #821717, gunmetal light #6d7378, emergency red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `powerState` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Power state" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real scale: 2.45 m tall to the beacon top, 2.30 m wide × about 1.4 m deep for the default two-pod bank. Each pod is 1.12 m across its plinth; pods sit 1.18 m apart. Origin is at the bottom centre, front faces +Z. 1,624 triangles, 9 materials, each named exactly after its kit palette colour; flat-shaded, with faceted normals baked into the mesh. The GLB is exported at the defaults: powerState 0.5 (window and power-bar glow scale with power, the red beacons get brighter as power fails, and lit power bars = round(4 × power)), podCount 2, doorOpen 0.3. powerState, podCount and doorOpen are build-time params, so to change them you rebuild in the viewer and re-export; a downloaded GLB keeps the values it was exported with. The glow is carried as emissive colour. The model is static: no animation clip. Only the root is declared in the design plan as 'cryopods', because the kit plan-checker does not accept hyphens in part ids. All sub-parts use the library's slug ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings, all intended: non-indexed geometry for the flat facets, a hazard band and a latch set deliberately into the plinth and door, parts stacked on each other rather than touching siblings, and a 2.45 m height measured against the direction's 1 m reference.
