Cargo bay

A low-poly cutaway cargo bay from an abandoned space station: a plated deck, ribbed walls with red emergency lamps, a half-open sliding blast door into an airlock, an overhead gantry crane with a hook, and stacked containers and crates.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Cargo bay for the Derelict Space Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Derelict Space Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): An abandoned station with failing power. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: gunmetal #454d54, emergency red #c32222, pale green #79af79, black #151619, gunmetal dark #22262a, emergency red dark #821717, gunmetal light #6d7378, emergency red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `powerState` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Power state" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Static environment piece at real station scale: 8.9 m wide x 8.18 m deep x 5.48 m high overall (an 8 m x 6 m deck inside 4.5 m walls; the gantry trolley rises to 5.48 m and the airlock alcove adds depth behind the back wall). Open front and open top so the interior reads from every orbit angle. Origin is at bottom centre; the ground disc is viewer staging only and is not in the model. powerState (0-1) only drives emissive strength: at 0 everything is dark, around 0.5 the red emergency lamps carry the room, and at 1 the warm-white ceiling strips and green console come up while the red lamps dim. doorOpen slides the two blast door leaves into a pocket inside the back wall. cargoCount places cargo in a fixed order and skips any piece that would block the door walkway, the console, the lifted deck plate or the fallen cable, so narrow bays (bayWidth near 6 m) show fewer pieces. bayWidth rebuilds the deck, walls and gantry. All params rebuild procedurally in the viewer; the GLB is baked at the defaults listed. Part ids use the slug written without hyphens (derelictspacestationcargobay) because the kit's part-id grammar does not allow hyphens. The exporter clones each mesh's material, so the file has 66 materials, but every one carries one of the 12 exact palette names above. The lint's material-count, duplicate-materials, unindexed, sibling-overlap, detached-parts and scale warnings come from that cloning, from flat shading, from deliberate embedded joins (for example the door leaves sliding into the wall pocket, and hazard stripes and lamps mounted on their frames) and from the real-world metre scale. The GLB has no animation clips.
