Broken consoles

A wrecked two-bay crew control console from an abandoned space station, in low poly. One monitor has torn off its bracket and slumped onto the key deck with a shattered screen, and an access panel has been ripped off and left leaning on the side, with cables spilling onto the floor.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Broken consoles for the Derelict Space Station kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Derelict Space Station kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): An abandoned station with failing power. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: gunmetal #454d54, emergency red #c32222, pale green #79af79, black #151619, gunmetal dark #22262a, emergency red dark #821717, gunmetal light #6d7378, emergency red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `powerState` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Power state" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at default params: the console itself is 1.86 m wide (two 0.9 m bays plus end frames) x 1.76 m tall to the top of the beacon x 0.9 m deep. Including the panel leaning on the right side and the cables spilling forward, the model's bounds are 2.02 m x 1.76 m x 1.13 m. The origin is the bottom centre of the console's own footprint, so the loose panel and cables sit off-centre to the right and front. It rests on y = 0 and faces +Z. bays (1-3) sets the console width at 0.9 m per bay. The left bay always has the broken monitor and the right bay always has the opened panel. With 1 bay, both are in the same bay. powerState (0-1) is baked into the export. It sets which keys, status lamps and intact monitors still work (dead ones are soot black, in a fixed seeded order) and how bright they glow, and it makes the red beacon burn brighter as power fails. All of this goes through emissive on the 'pale green', 'warm white' and 'emergency red light' materials, so a re-export is needed to change it. damage (0-1) swings the broken monitor down off its bracket until its corner rests on the desk at 0.8 and above. Below 0.25, the access panel is closed and there are no spilled cables, so the 'cables' part is absent. The dark wood palette colour is not used on this part. 1912 triangles. Every material is named exactly after its palette colour (11 colours used). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the GLB lists 39 material entries sharing those 11 names. Geometry is non-indexed with true facet normals so it stays flat-shaded in any engine. The lint's material-count, duplicate-material, unindexed and sibling-overlap warnings are expected results of the per-part merge. glb-lint's overall verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. The GLB has no animation clips. Part ids use the slug sanitized to derelictspacestationbrokenconsoles because the kit's part-id grammar does not allow hyphens.
