Submersible

A low-poly three-person deep-sea research submersible resting on its landing skids. It has a warm-white hull, a glowing glass bow dome, an orange sail, ducted thrusters, floodlights and a manipulator arm. Its propellers turn, its searchlight sweeps and its arm sways on a seamless 6-second loop. Part of the Deep Sea Abyss kit.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Submersible for the Deep Sea Abyss kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Deep Sea Abyss kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Black water and living lights. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: abyss black #151619, glow cyan #20c6df, magenta #d02597, vent orange #ed7e1d, abyss black dark #090a0b, glow cyan dark #168a9c, abyss black light #3a3c40, glow cyan light #67d4e4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `glowColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Glow colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world scale in metres: the submersible is 6.52 m long (stern duct to claw tip), 3.18 m tall to the top of the strobe beacon and 3.42 m wide across the side thrusters. The pressure hull is 2.0 m wide. Origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint, the skids rest on y = 0 and the bow faces +Z. The GLB carries one clip, 'sub-motion' (6 s, seamless). The stern and side propellers turn 3 whole turns about their shafts, the searchlight pans ±35° about its vertical swivel, the arm sways at a yaw/pitch shoulder and the elbow, and the claw opens and closes twice. Every animated group's origin sits on its shaft, swivel or hinge, and the hull, sail, skids and ducts carry no motion. Every material is named after its Deep Sea Abyss palette colour. The exporter writes one material copy per mesh, so names repeat (36 materials, 8 colours); recolouring by name catches them all. The dome and lit lenses have a self-glow in their own colour. glowColour sets the colour of the portholes, floodlight lenses and searchlight lens. It snaps to palette swatches instead of blending, so the material name always matches a palette colour: 0–0.2 magenta, 0.2–0.4 glow cyan dark, 0.4–0.6 glow cyan (default), 0.6–0.8 glow cyan light, 0.8–1 vent orange. The dome stays glow cyan dark and the beacon stays magenta. hullLength stretches the hull, and the skids, sail, fins, lights and arm mount move with it. All params are baked at export, so the GLB holds the defaults; propTurns and lightSweep change the baked clip's speed and sweep, not its length. 2,040 triangles and 36 draw calls at every param value (well under the 9,000 budget). Every primitive is non-indexed with per-face normals so the flat facets survive in any engine. In the viewer only, the shadow catcher, sun rig, exposure 0.9 and environment fill 0.55 are staging and are not part of the GLB. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its 6 warnings are heuristics: material count and repeated names (per-mesh export), non-indexed flat-shaded primitives, intended nesting (portholes and keel set into the hull), propellers and claw jaws that sit alone in their pivot groups, and scale against a 1 m reference height. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. Plan-level part ids are 'deepseasub' and 'deepseasub.*' because the kit's plan checker rejects hyphens in part ids; every sub-part uses the library's deep-sea-abyss-submersible.* ids.
