Lifeboats
A low-poly enclosed cruise ship lifeboat on a teak shore cradle. It has a white hull with a pool-blue bottom, a sunset-coral canopy with side windows, a coxswain's cupola with a hinged hatch, and roof lifting hooks. A 6 s loop spins the propeller, swings the rudder and opens the hatch.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Lifeboats for the Cruise Ship Deck kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Cruise Ship Deck kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A floating holiday. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, teak #815731, pool blue #2e67b8, sunset coral #e2715a, white dark #d7cebc, teak dark #4a311c, white light #f9f8f6, teak light #b37c4d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `shipLength` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ship length" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at defaults: the hull is 9.5 m long with a 3.5 m beam. The model is 10.1 m overall, including the rudder aft of the transom, and 3.82 m tall to the top of the closed coxswain's hatch, standing on its shore cradle. The bow faces +Z. The origin is at the bottom centre and the cradle rests on y = 0. The GLB has 1,012 triangles in 23 meshes (merged per part and colour, with flat normals and non-indexed geometry) and carries one 6 s seamless clip, 'scene-motion'. In that clip the propeller makes 6 turns about its shaft, the rudder swings about its vertical stock, and the hatch opens and closes about its aft hinge. The hull, canopy and cradle never move. The GLB's static node pose is the frame at export time, with the hatch part-open; play the clip, or seek it to 0, for the closed rest pose. With the hatch fully open the model is about 4.55 m tall. It uses 11 of the 12 kit colours (warm white is unused), and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can repeat: recolour by name. shipLength (the kit's 'Ship length') sets the boat length from 8 m to 11 m, so a longer ship carries a bigger boat. windowCount sets 3 to 7 windows per side. hatchOpen sets the hatch's peak angle (0–80°), and rudderSweep sets the rudder amplitude (0–30°). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults; they change the model only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both param extremes passed three-check, at about 988 triangles (minimum) and 1,084 (maximum) in the exported model (three-check total less the 266-triangle viewer ground). glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict prints UNVERIFIED because 5 rules need a requirements contract or a manual review. Its heuristic warnings were reviewed and are intended: duplicate materials, unindexed geometry, sibling overlap from nested cradle and hull parts, the mast light counted as a detached mesh although it sits on its white-light post, and scale against a 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; a copy with the hyphens removed passes. The davits are a separate kit piece, cruise-ship-deck-lifeboat-stations, which shares this hull and canopy shape.
About the Lifeboats 3D model
Lifeboats is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Cruise Ship Deck set. It measures 3.5 m × 4.5 m × 10 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,012 triangles across 23 meshes, with 10 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 113 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Lifeboats 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 113 KB: 1,012 triangles, 3,036 vertices and 23 materials, modelled in metres at 3.5 m × 4.5 m × 10 m.
- Is Lifeboats animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Lifeboats 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
