Railings
A low-poly run of cruise ship deck railing: white steel stanchions with grey rod courses under a chamfered teak handrail, a white toe plate on a grey deck sill, and a raked stay bracing the first stanchion. It is a 2 m modular piece that snaps end to end on a 1 m grid.

Left rail: colours and the 3 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Railings for the Cruise Ship Deck kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Cruise Ship Deck kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A floating holiday. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, teak #815731, pool blue #2e67b8, sunset coral #e2715a, white dark #d7cebc, teak dark #4a311c, white light #f9f8f6, teak light #b37c4d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `shipLength` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Ship length" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 2.0 m between the end stanchion centres (2.10 m overall, because the teak handrail lips 5 cm past each end post), 1.10 m tall to the top of the handrail, and about 0.47 m deep including the raked stay, which reaches 0.36 m inboard. Snapping: the run lies along +X and the origin is its snapping end, the centre of the first stanchion at deck level (y = 0). The front (outboard, toe-plate side) faces +Z and the stay braces inboard towards -Z. The far stanchion centre is exactly at x = length, which is where the next piece's origin goes. Stanchions stand at every metre. When pieces are chained, the shared stanchion is identical geometry in the same place, and the 5 cm handrail lips overlap in the same plane in the same colour. The stay sits only on the first stanchion, so a chain gets one stay per piece and never two in one place. This breaks the library's usual bottom-centre origin on purpose, because the brief asks for an end origin on modular pieces. The GLB has 456 triangles in 9 meshes, merged per part and colour, with flat normals, and no animation clip; it is a static asset. The largest settings (4 m, 5 rod courses) stay under 1,000 triangles. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and 5 of the 12 kit colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so 'white', 'white dark' and 'mid grey' appear more than once: recolour by name. All materials have metalness 0. shipLength (the kit's 'Ship length') sets the rod courses between the toe plate and the handrail: 3 at 0, 4 at the default and 5 at 1, because bigger liners carry denser rails. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Each param's extremes were built and passed three-check. The tan disc in the preview is viewer staging and is not in the GLB. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 3 heuristic warnings, all reviewed: duplicate same-named materials; the stanchion/collar and stay/clamp overlaps, which are intended nesting; and 'detached' rod rails, which in fact pass through the stanchions. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes, and three-check accepts the ids and all 6 survive the GLB reload.
About the Railings 3D model
Railings is a free low-poly 3D model from the Cruise Ship Deck set. It measures 2.1 m × 1.1 m × 47 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 456 triangles across 9 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 30 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Railings 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 30 KB: 456 triangles, 756 vertices and 9 materials, modelled in metres at 2.1 m × 1.1 m × 47 cm.
- Can I animate Railings?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Railings 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
