Wind mills

A faceted low-poly tower windmill with a terracotta cap, a railed gallery balcony, four lattice sails on a tilted windshaft, and a tailpole raking back to a timber trestle. Built for the Cloud Kingdom sunrise kit at believable scale: 16.4 m to the highest sail tip.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Wind mills for the Cloud Kingdom kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Cloud Kingdom kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Castles on clouds at sunrise. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: cloud white #f4f1ec, peach #ecb893, sky blue #2e67b8, gold #d0a225, cloud white dark #d7cebc, peach dark #e08d52, cloud white light #f9f8f6, peach light #f6e3d5, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `timeOfDay` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Time of day" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Metres, +Y up, the mill faces +Z, origin on the tower axis at y = 0; 1812 triangles, no textures, no animation clip. Part ids use the root 'windmill' rather than the full slug because the kit's plan checker requires an alphanumeric first id segment. timeOfDay yaws the whole cap assembly (roof, windshaft, sail wheel and tailpole) through +/-35 degrees, which IS baked into the exported geometry; it also lowers and warms the viewer's sun, and that half is viewer-only because lights are staging and never enter the GLB. Facets are baked into the vertex normals rather than left to material.flatShading, since glTF has no flat-shading flag and a smooth-normal export would arrive in Blender, Godot or Unity looking like a different style; that makes the geometry intentionally non-indexed. The GLB carries 25 materials rather than 10 because the kit runtime clones one material per exported mesh - every one is still named exactly for its Cloud Kingdom palette colour, so recolouring by material name works as intended. Ten of the twelve kit colours are used; warm white and peach light are not. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 5 warnings; its overall verdict prints UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract sidecar was supplied, and the warnings are the intended non-indexed (flat-normal) geometry, the 25 runtime-cloned materials, deliberate nesting of embedded parts, and the 16 m height against the direction's 1 m reference.
