Rainbow fade

A low-poly rainbow rising out of a faceted cloud bank and fading away mid-sky, built for the Cloud Kingdom kit. Its five colour bands turn on a gold axle in a seamless six-second sway that is baked into the GLB.

Rainbow fade 3D model
This model carries a baked animation clip.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Rainbow fade for the Cloud Kingdom kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Cloud Kingdom kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Castles on clouds at sunrise. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: cloud white #f4f1ec, peach #ecb893, sky blue #2e67b8, gold #d0a225, cloud white dark #d7cebc, peach dark #e08d52, cloud white light #f9f8f6, peach light #f6e3d5, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `timeOfDay` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Time of day" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Scale: 3.28 m wide, 1.8 m tall, 1.27 m deep — a gateway-arch-sized ornament, not a sky-scale rainbow. Origin at bottom centre, slab resting on y = 0, bow facing +Z. 1724 triangles, 8 meshes, flat-shaded by per-face normals (non-indexed geometry, so glb-lint warns about unindexed primitives by design). Materials are named by Cloud Kingdom palette colour; the exporter clones materials per mesh, so the file carries two materials both named 'gold' (axle and band 3) — recolour by name still catches both. The clip 'scene-motion' rotates the five band meshes about their origin (the axle at y = 0.5) by ±6° on one 6 s sine with a 0.6 rad lag per band; the cloud and axle are still. The clip is baked at the default params; changing 'sway' or 'timeOfDay' re-bakes only when re-exported from the viewer. 'timeOfDay' has two halves: it moves and warms the viewer's sun (viewer only, not in the GLB) and sets how far the bow has faded, which is real geometry (0 = full bow with both feet in the cloud, 0.5 = tail dissolving past the apex, 1 = short stub). glb-lint reported 0 errors and 3 heuristic warnings (unindexed, concentric-band AABB overlap, duplicate gold); its verdict reads 'unverified' only because no requirements contract was supplied.
