Lock chambers
A low-poly English narrow canal lock: a 21 m brick chamber between grass banks, with a single top gate, a mitred pair of bottom gates with black-and-white balance beams, paddle gear, a ladder and bollards. The water steps down from the upper pound through the chamber to the lower pound, and the bank steps down with it at the tail.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Lock chambers for the Canal and Locks kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Canal and Locks kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Slow boats through green country. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: canal green #3a883a, boat red and blue #2e67b8, brick #9e3d2e, willow #988e81, canal green dark #235223, boat red and blue dark #1f457a, canal green light #5db15d, boat red and blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `waterLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Water level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 28.0 m long (21 m chamber plus 3.5 m stubs of the upper and lower pounds) × 13.4 m wide × 4.32 m tall to the gate paddle gear. The chamber is 2.3 m wide (a narrow-boat lock), and the copings sit 3.1 m above the bed. The bank steps down to 1.6 m past the bottom gates. The lock runs along X: upper pound at −X, lower at +X. The towpath is on the front (+Z) bank. Origin at the bottom centre, resting on y = 0. 2,324 triangles, static, no animation clip. Every material is named after its kit palette colour (10 of the 12 are used; canal green light and boat red and blue dark are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. waterLevel (the kit's 'Water level') fills the chamber from the lower pound level (0.7 m) to the upper pound level (2.7 m), and the algae line follows it. When bottomGatesOpen is above 0, the chamber always sits at the lower pound level, because open bottom gates cannot hold water back. In that case waterLevel has no visible effect. bottomGatesOpen swings the mitred pair back against the chamber walls, and their beams then lie along the tail bank. The top gate stays closed. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its 5 heuristic warnings are expected: material count and duplicate materials (per-mesh copies), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (algae skin and embankment pieces set against the walls), and height compared with the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphenated slug ids this library requires. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. Param extremes (14 m, gates open, full water; 24 m, half-open, empty) both pass three-check and glb-lint.
About the Lock chambers 3D model
Lock chambers is a free low-poly 3D model from the Canal and Locks set. It measures 28 m × 4.3 m × 13 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,324 triangles across 25 meshes, with 12 named parts. Download the 185 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Lock chambers 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 185 KB: 2,324 triangles, 6,972 vertices and 25 materials, modelled in metres at 28 m × 4.3 m × 13 m.
- Can I animate Lock chambers?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 12 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Lock chambers 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
