Flower tubs

A low-poly group of lockside flower tubs: a weathered oak half-barrel with black iron hoops and trailing ivy, and two tapered tubs painted in narrowboat blue, red and white. Each is heaped with a leaf mound studded with red, white and blue flowers.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Flower tubs for the Canal and Locks kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Canal and Locks kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Slow boats through green country. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: canal green #3a883a, boat red and blue #2e67b8, brick #9e3d2e, willow #988e81, canal green dark #235223, boat red and blue dark #1f457a, canal green light #5db15d, boat red and blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `waterLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Water level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 1.45 m wide (x) × 0.93 m deep (z) × 0.60 m tall, including the plants. The half-barrel is 0.44 m tall to its rim and 0.69 m across the belly. The blue tub is 0.34 m tall and 0.46 m across the top, and the red tub is 0.27 m tall and 0.34 m across. The tubs stand apart on y = 0 and do not touch. The origin is at the bottom centre of the group, and the front (with the ivy) faces +Z. The GLB has 4,364 triangles in 18 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour; 10 of the 12 kit colours are used (mid grey and boat red and blue dark are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. Parts are grouped by role across all tubs (all walls in tubs, all hoops and collars in trim, and so on), not one part per tub. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. waterLevel (the kit's 'Water level') is the damp line splashed up from the lock: below 0.1·w m each tub wall turns canal green dark, split exactly on the geometry. That is 5 cm at the default, none at 0, and 10 cm at 1; a painted band below the line is dropped. The model carries no water itself. tubCount 1–3 adds the blue tub and then the red tub; at 1 only the barrel remains, and the group re-centres. bloom 0–1 raises the leaf domes and sets the flower count (about 13 to 35 heads on the barrel) and ivy length; at 0 a few flowers and short ivy strands remain. The extremes (waterLevel 1 / bloom 1, and waterLevel 0 / tubCount 1 / bloom 0) were run through three-check and PASSed; the maximum is about 5,200 GLB triangles (5,450 in the viewer, which includes the unexported ground). glb-lint: 0 errors; the verdict reads 'UNVERIFIED' only because no requirements contract is supplied. Its 5 heuristic warnings are expected: duplicate material names (one per mesh), non-indexed flat shading, sibling overlap (leaf domes nest in the soil), and 'detached' for the soil and the brick collar, which sit inside or wrap the tub walls rather than touching another part's bounds. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. Fix rounds: (1) more and bigger flower heads on lower leaf domes, a thinner damp line, tighter hero framing; (2) looser framing so the front tub clears the viewer controls, and side florets made octahedral to keep bloom 1 under budget; ivy kept at bloom 0 so its part id always exists.

About the Flower tubs 3D model

Flower tubs is a free low-poly 3D model from the Canal and Locks set. It measures 1.4 m × 60 cm × 93 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,364 triangles across 18 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 323 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Flower tubs 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 323 KB: 4,364 triangles, 13,092 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 1.4 m × 60 cm × 93 cm.
Can I animate Flower tubs?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Flower tubs 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
