Rising smoke
A low-poly column of copal smoke rising from an Aztec stone temple censer with a turquoise rim, a carved jade frieze and glowing coals, on a two-step plinth. Faceted grey and white billows twist upward, swell and drift downwind in a seamless 8-second loop.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Rising smoke for the Aztec Temple City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Aztec Temple City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A city on a lake with stepped pyramids. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone grey #757e8a, turquoise #31c4b8, feather red #c32222, jade #389475, stone grey dark #525860, turquoise dark #22877e, stone grey light #a3a5a8, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `carvingColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Carving colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the plinth is 0.72 m square, the censer rim sits at 0.62 m and is 0.6 m across, and the smoke climbs to about 2.54 m overall (the GLB's bounding height at its static pose). Origin at bottom centre, plinth on y = 0, front (+Z) faces a carved frieze block. 3,540 triangles in 91 meshes. Motion: one seamless 8 s clip, 'scene-motion', moves only the 14 smoke billows. Each billow rises along one of two interleaved widening helices, swells, drifts downwind toward −X and shrinks to near zero at both ends of its climb, one whole cycle per loop; every billow pivots about its own centre. The plinth, censer, rim, carvings and coals never move. The static node pose in the GLB is the t = 2 s frame. carvingColour (the kit 'Carving colour' setting) picks the frieze block colour in five steps: stone grey light, turquoise, jade (default), feather red, warm white. plumeHeight, billowCount and windDrift reshape the smoke. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (9 of the 12 used; turquoise dark, turquoise light and dark wood are unused). The embers carry a mild feather-red emissive. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat: recolour by name. Smoke is matte opaque faceted geometry, not a particle or transparent effect; the billows float by design. glb-lint: 0 errors, 6 heuristic warnings (per-mesh material count and duplicates, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, intended nesting of frieze/blocks, the bowl and rim flagged 'detached' though they sit on the plinth, and height vs a 1 m reference); the verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. The ground disc in the preview is viewer staging and is not in the GLB.
About the Rising smoke 3D model
Rising smoke is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Aztec Temple City set. It measures 1.1 m × 2.5 m × 83 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,540 triangles across 91 meshes, with 7 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 616 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Rising smoke 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 616 KB: 3,540 triangles, 9,593 vertices and 91 materials, modelled in metres at 1.1 m × 2.5 m × 83 cm.
- Is Rising smoke animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Rising smoke 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
