Canoe

A low-poly Aztec dugout canoe (acalli) for a lake city: a long dark wood hull with solid blunt ends, a carved jade band studded under the gunwale, a stepped prow block, a rolled reed mat as cargo and a red feather pennant at the stern. It has a seamless 4 s loop: two turquoise-bladed paddles stroke on their thole pins and the pennant swivels.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Canoe for the Aztec Temple City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Aztec Temple City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A city on a lake with stepped pyramids. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone grey #757e8a, turquoise #31c4b8, feather red #c32222, jade #389475, stone grey dark #525860, turquoise dark #22877e, stone grey light #a3a5a8, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `carvingColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Carving colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 6.2 m long, 0.9 m beam, 0.48 m to the gunwale amidships (0.64 m at the raised ends), 1.53 m to the tip of the pennant staff. The bow faces +Z and the flat keel rests on y = 0. The GLB has 1,552 triangles in 21 meshes and uses 6 of the 12 kit palette colours. Every material is named exactly after its colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name can repeat: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (4 s, seamless) moves three parts, each on its own pivot. Each paddle makes two strokes per loop: it yaws about the top of its thole pin, then lifts on the recovery. The pennant swivels about its staff axis. The hull, band, prow, pins, mat and staff never move. The static node pose in the GLB is the t = 2 s pose, because three-check exports after its determinism seek. carvingColour (the kit's 'Carving colour') picks the colour of the carved band and prow block from the kit's carving ramp: stone grey light, turquoise, jade (default), feather red, warm white. At warm white the fret studs switch to soot black, and at stone grey light the stone grey light material appears. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the default params were rendered and checked; the extremes were not captured. There are no paddlers; the paddles move by themselves as a kinetic prop. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its 5 heuristic warnings are non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, more than 10 materials (one per mesh), nested overlaps where studs, cords and the paddle collar sit on their parent forms, and 'detached' parts that are seated on the hull. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts the real ids.

About the Canoe 3D model

Canoe is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Aztec Temple City set. It measures 2.7 m × 1.5 m × 6.5 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,552 triangles across 21 meshes, with 10 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 147 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Canoe 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 147 KB: 1,552 triangles, 4,656 vertices and 21 materials, modelled in metres at 2.7 m × 1.5 m × 6.5 m.
Is Canoe animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Canoe 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
