Maize baskets

A low-poly Aztec market group for the Aztec Temple City kit: a tall coiled reed basket and a smaller one, both heaped with white, red and blue-green maize cobs on jade husks, with a shallow tray of loose cobs in front.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Maize baskets for the Aztec Temple City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Aztec Temple City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A city on a lake with stepped pyramids. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone grey #757e8a, turquoise #31c4b8, feather red #c32222, jade #389475, stone grey dark #525860, turquoise dark #22877e, stone grey light #a3a5a8, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `carvingColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Carving colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 0.99 m wide × 1.04 m deep × 0.68 m tall to the top of the heap. The large basket is 0.42 m tall and 0.54 m across the rim, the small one is 0.26 m tall, and the tray is 0.46 m across. The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the bottom centre and the front (+Z) faces the tray. The GLB has 3,840 triangles in 12 meshes, is static and has no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 5 of the 12 are used at the defaults; other carvingColour steps add stone grey light, turquoise or jade. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so some names repeat: recolour by name. carvingColour (the kit "Carving colour" setting) picks the colour of the painted band on each basket in five steps: stone grey light, turquoise, feather red (default), jade, warm white. basketHeight, heapHeight and basketCount (1 = large basket only, 2 = add the small basket, 3 = add the tray) reshape the group. The params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. Cob placement is fixed by a seeded generator. glb-lint: 0 errors. It gives 4 expected warnings: per-mesh duplicate materials, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, and overlapping boxes from parts that nest into each other (cobs in husk heaps, bands on basket walls). Its overall verdict is UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 7 ids. The ground disc in the preview is viewer staging and is not in the GLB.

About the Maize baskets 3D model

Maize baskets is a free low-poly 3D model from the Aztec Temple City set. It measures 99 cm × 68 cm × 1.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,840 triangles across 12 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 281 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Maize baskets 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 281 KB: 3,840 triangles, 11,520 vertices and 12 materials, modelled in metres at 99 cm × 68 cm × 1.0 m.
Can I animate Maize baskets?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Maize baskets 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
