Floating garden tiles

A low-poly 4 × 4 m Aztec chinampa (floating garden) ground tile: a raised bed of dark lake mud in a stake-and-wattle edge, planted with rows of maize and red amaranth, squash, and a tall ahuejote willow, ringed by turquoise canal water with lily pads and a carved mooring stone. The border is always flat water, so copies tile into a field of garden beds between canals.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Floating garden tiles for the Aztec Temple City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the Aztec Temple City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A city on a lake with stepped pyramids. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: stone grey #757e8a, turquoise #31c4b8, feather red #c32222, jade #389475, stone grey dark #525860, turquoise dark #22877e, stone grey light #a3a5a8, turquoise light #6dd5cc, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `carvingColour` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Carving colour" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: exactly 4 × 4 m (X −2..2, Z −2..2), 3.8 m tall to the top of the willow (3.4 m above the bed). The origin is at the tile centre and the bottom is on y = 0; the front faces +Z. The whole footprint is a canal water slab 0.12 m deep with its top flat at y = 0.12 on every border, and the 2.9 × 2.9 m mud bed (top 0.38 m) is inset 0.55 m from each edge, so neighbouring tiles meet water to water and a grid reads as beds separated by 1.1 m canals. Nothing crosses the border. Maize is about 1.4–1.7 m, amaranth 0.9–1.2 m, the carved mooring stone 0.9 m. The GLB has 3,748 triangles in 19 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; at the default 11 of the 12 are used (soot black is not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name can repeat; recolour by name. carvingColour (the kit's 'Carving colour' knob) only changes the carved band on the mooring stone, stepping along stone grey light → turquoise light → turquoise → jade → feather red (the stepped pyramid's ramp); at 0.5 it is turquoise. cropRows (3–6) alternates maize and amaranth rows with squash in the furrows; willowHeight scales the willow; bedHeight raises the mud bed and wattle. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings (duplicate same-named materials from the per-mesh export, deliberately non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, overlapping scatter buckets, the mooring stone's top block flagged 'detached' though it sits on the cap, and a 3.8 m height against the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes.

About the Floating garden tiles 3D model

Floating garden tiles is a free low-poly 3D model from the Aztec Temple City set. It measures 4.0 m × 3.8 m × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,748 triangles across 19 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 281 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Floating garden tiles 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 281 KB: 3,748 triangles, 11,244 vertices and 19 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 3.8 m × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Floating garden tiles?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Floating garden tiles 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
