Chocks

A low-poly pair of light-aircraft wheel chocks: two timber wedges with orange-painted heels and grip ribs, set slope to slope across the tyre gap and tied by a rope that lies on the grass, each with a rope carry handle.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Chocks for the Airfield kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Airfield kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Small planes on a grass strip. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: grass green #3a883a, hangar white #f4f1ec, signal orange #ff851a, sky blue #2e67b8, grass green dark #235223, hangar white dark #d7cebc, grass green light #5db15d, hangar white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `era` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Era" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 1.02 m long × 0.22 m deep × 0.13 m tall at default params. Each chock is 0.30 m long, 0.12 m wide and 0.13 m tall, and the pair sits 0.30 m apart toe to toe, which fits a light aircraft's main wheel of about 0.38 m. The origin is at the bottom centre on y = 0, and the tether runs along the front (+Z) side. The GLB has 752 triangles in 21 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed geometry). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 4 of the 12 colours are used at the default era. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. era (the kit's 'Era') follows the Airfield hangar's split. Below 0.6 (the default 0.5) you get timber chocks with painted heels and a manila rope. From 0.6 up you get moulded signal-orange polymer chocks with soot-black rubber ribs, a raised grip handle, a hangar-white reflector strip and a sky-blue nylon tether. Across the whole range era also raises the chock height from 0.11 to 0.15 m. chockLength and tyreGap resize the wedges and the gap, and the tether follows. The GLB is baked at default params. The params only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. The extreme case (era 1, 0.22 m chocks, 0.5 m gap) was also built: three-check passed and glb-lint reported 0 errors. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 expected warnings: material count, duplicate-named materials, non-indexed primitives, ribs nested on the bodies, and the 0.13 m height versus the 1 m reference. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects the hyphens in the slug-based part ids this library requires; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check, run with the real hyphenated ids, passes all 24 checks. The fix round changed the painted heel from a thin back plate to a full heel block, so it reads at thumbnail size, and seated the tether eyes on the timber.

About the Chocks 3D model

Chocks is a free low-poly 3D model from the Airfield set. It measures 1.0 m × 13 cm × 21 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 752 triangles across 21 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 93 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Chocks 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 93 KB: 752 triangles, 2,256 vertices and 21 materials, modelled in metres at 1.0 m × 13 cm × 21 cm.
Can I animate Chocks?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Chocks 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
